The vibe and ambiance of the venue provided a festive yet comfortable atmosphere for celebration and networking, with bags of complimentary popcorn throughout to provide a theater feel as we watched the movie on big-screen televisions strategically placed around the venue! The DJ played the best mix of late 90s/early 2000s hip hop/R&B hits to keep this mature crowd on its feet while the bartenders kept the drinks flowing smoothly!
A Wesley Christmas was written and produced by power couple Bree and Chuck West. Though this is not their first film, this is the couple’s first film released post-pandemic. The movie is very well written and executed by the cast. Each cast member embodied their roles on screen and even off the screen as they provided laughter throughout the night!
This movie captures the reality of a Black family Christmas with positive family roles of a two-parent home and the pettiness of Black family drama. I love how they address “mental illness” and how we as a family can support and understand our loved ones without ostracizing them!! Of course, you can’t have Black family drama without comedy and a side chick or two, but all in all, it was a great film that wasn’t as predictable as the other BET Christmas movies.
A Wesley Christmas has been released on BET+ and can be watched on the app only with a monthly subscription. However, on Thanksgiving Day, you can watch this film on BET for a special broadcast during their special programming for the day. Check your local listings.
I give this movie a top rating, and it’s a must-see for the whole family!
