Fancy: How long have you worked for Keap, and what do you enjoy about the company?

Darin: I am now in my tenth year of working for Keap. (Back when I started, it was called Infusionsoft and has gone through a few changes.) For ten years, I have crisscrossed the world, teaching people what they can do to grow their businesses and be more successful.  What I enjoy most of all is being able to help people get to a better place in their entrepreneurial journey.  I love it when I am speaking at an event, and someone comes up to me and tells me they heard me speak before and they got signed up for Keap, and they love what it has done for them.  That makes my day.  While I certainly get paid for my job, when I get a comment like that, it’s my real paycheck. 

Fancy: What exactly is an automation expert?

Darin: I have studied marketing and sales automation for a decade.  I have seen some of the things that people can do to automate their sales, marketing, and business processes.  So now I get to show other people those things and help them get excited about what automation can do for them.  I get to talk to other marketing experts from around the world and see what they are doing and share that.  Donald Miller from StoryBrand, or Ryan Deiss from Digital Marketer, and many others are our top partners, and I get to glean from the best.

Fancy: Why is automation so important for business owners?

Darin: Automation is likely the single most important factor in helping a business really take off.  The more you can automate, the more time you can save.  That means you can spend that time helping the business in other ways or just enjoying the other elements of your life more.  Automation really means, “I don’t have to do this task.  I’m going to let automation do it for me.”  You remember the Jetsons cartoon, and you probably dreamed of a life like that where robots and machines could do everything for you.  That life is now when you turn over tasks in your work to automation and start saving time. 

Fancy: What are some of the benefits of using Keap’s services?

So you automate the relationship-building process by reaching out faster, following up sooner, staying in touch consistently, and providing solutions appropriately.  That all happens when you build those relationships through automation. 

Fancy: Can you recall a client success story?

Darin: I have tons of client success stories.  That’s all I talk about when I do a presentation.  I show how other people are doing amazing things using the tools inside of Keap.  I normally use different stories to illustrate different features or to talk about different pain points.

Darin: I’m going to show people how to solve their problems.  I’m going to show them how other people have done exactly what they are wanting to do.  I’ll walk everyone through the steps they can automate, and I’m hopefully going to get people excited and looking forward to doing exactly that. 

Fancy: As someone who has mastered sales, what advice would you share with business owners who shy away from them?

Darin: Sales is helping someone solve their biggest problems.  It is the greatest opportunity in the world.  You’re literally granting people’s wishes.  Someone is struggling with needing a solution, and if you have the solution, you are the most important person in the world to them. When I first started selling, I had that weird feeling when it came to asking for the sale because I felt awkward asking someone for their money.  I was focused on the money part.  But then I realized I was solving problems for people, and they needed it and loved the solution.  Now, I love it.  I love showing people how I can help them solve their problems, and I know what a small price it is to get that solution.  You have to really believe in your solution.  Do you honestly believe that it will help solve problems?  If so, then you should be so excited to offer it to people and show them how they can take advantage of it.
