Spotlight on Briana Edmonds: Empowering Black Women through Media and Public Relations

Briana Edmonds is a multifaceted media personality, award-winning journalist, and public relations specialist whose journey in the industry has led her to establish Ebony Lifestyle Magazine & PR Firm. Her passion for uplifting the culture and spreading love shines through her work, as she shares her insights on founding Ebony Lifestyle Magazine, memorable career moments, and her dedication to empowering black women in media and beyond.

Tammy: At SwagHer Magazine, we support our fellow colleagues in media and public relations.

We’re thrilled to chat with you today! As a media personality, award-winning journalist, and PR specialist, what inspired you to found Ebony Lifestyle Magazine?

Briana: My inspiration for founding Ebony Lifestyle Magazine came from reading Ebony and JET Magazines. Our mission is to spread love and uplift the culture, and we’ve expanded to become a PR Firm with over 50 top-tier publishing partners, providing the best of both worlds.

Tammy: What have been some of the most memorable moments in your career so far?

Briana: Invitations to exclusive events, such as those from BET Networks, Urban One Honors, NAACP Image Awards, and the Super Bowl Celebration, have been highlights of my career.

Tammy: What do you enjoy most about being in the media and public relations industry? What keeps you motivated to continue your career?

Briana: What I enjoy most about my career is getting paid to be myself. I love what I do and do what I love. Before journalism, I was a media personality known as ‘BrooklynBabyBri.’ Both roles hold significant weight because I turned them into something great.

Tammy: In honor of April being International Black Women’s History Month, are there any specific initiatives or projects you’re involved in to commemorate and celebrate the contributions of black women?

Briana: In celebration of International Black Women’s History Month, I was honored with the distinguished ‘#1 Business Owner of the Year’ award from Alignable in Martinez/Augusta, Georgia. This accolade serves as a tribute to my relentless drive and commitment to delivering outstanding service to my clients. The sense of accomplishment that comes with being recognized for my hard work is truly wonderful!

Tammy: As a leader in media and journalism, what role do you believe the industry plays in shaping perceptions and advancing the visibility of black women’s achievements and contributions?

Briana: As a leader in media and journalism, I believe our culture can change the world, but change must start from within, as my husband Melvin Edmonds JR says. Collaboration between journalists, media personalities, and public relations specialists can create a positive and beautiful media landscape, but unfortunately, only 85% are currently doing so, leaving the remainder at the bottom. Small minds cannot win, but collaboration can and will forever.

Tammy: What are your goals and aspirations for Ebony Lifestyle Magazine, and how do you envision continuing to uplift and empower black women through your platform?

Briana: Ebony Lifestyle Magazine aims to evolve into a renowned PR Firm, and we have taken the first step towards achieving this goal. Following a rebrand, our platform is now poised to deliver excellence. We offer a comprehensive range of services, including advertisements, interviews, and cover stories in over 50 top-tier publications.
