Dr. Kameika Hinson Offers Hope and Help to Grieving Mothers

Dr. Kameika Hinson is the President of Chasing Rainbows Grief Coaching Services, LLC. She is also the Founder and CEO of her nonprofit organization called Jeremiah’s Journey to Healing Ministries. She teaches women who have had pregnancy or infant loss how to cope, heal and flourish through purpose discovery and storytelling. Dr. Kameika is furthering her services by pursuing her Doctorate in Ministry while focusing on Christian counseling.

If someone were to ask you who is Dr. Kameika Hinson, what would your reply be?

Dr. Kameika is a very purpose-driven and determined individual who sets her mind on something that she’s passionate about and does not stop until she achieves her goal. Her exterior can be tough and ready to confront anything that the day may bring, but deep down she’s very sensitive and compassionate. She will give you her last dollar and figure out how to make another dollar so that she could eat. Now that’s the real Dr. Kameika Hinson.

What impact do you want to make in the world?

The impact that I want to make in the world is that everyone has a purpose and your purpose is found in your pain. But once you’ve found your purpose, don’t just sit on it. Seek guidance from your God and act on it. Faith without works is dead.

What is a typical business day like for you?

At the current moment, I’m what’s considered to be a “dual-preneur,” meaning I work a 9–5 as well as a business owner so my business day may look a little different than that of most entrepreneurs. I start my day around 5 a.m. and I get ready for work as a medical laboratory scientist. Now my job is very demanding, but can be laid back at times, so I respond to emails and texts throughout the day when time permits. I may take a call or a Zoom meeting on my lunch break if it can’t wait until I clock out.

Once I clock out, things are very strategic and usually planned ahead of time because there is only a short window between the time I clock out and get ready for bed. I usually have Zoom calls available for my clients on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, but I will take an emergency call any day before 8 p.m. This is all temporary until my business has an income of my medical laboratory scientist income or higher. I made a promise to myself that I wouldn’t quit my day job until my business income was equal to or greater than my day job’s income.

What are some causes geared toward women that you’re extremely passionate about and why?

One cause that I’m extremely passionate about is the March of Dimes. March of Dimes leads the fight for the health of all moms and babies. They believe that every baby deserves the best possible start. Unfortunately, not all babies get one and they are changing that. They support moms throughout their pregnancy, even when everything doesn’t go according to plan. They advocate for policies that prioritize their health. Being that I had a miscarriage, this cause is extremely passionate to me and my purpose in life.

What does 2022 look like for you?

2022 is looking very full-time “entrepreneur-ish,” if I can make up a word. My business has had exponential growth since the start of 2022, and with my conference and the launch of my new program, in the words of Cardi B, “it’s up and it’s stuck” from this point on. You can register for my conference at www.growingfromgriefsummit.com
