Lizzo Delivers Inspirational Message at Audacy Listening Party

Lizzo delivered a simple but powerful messagin at a sit down with Audacy for a special listening party event for her “Special” album.  You can’t rush greatness!

While Lizzo spoke of self-love, her song remake suggestions for Kid’s Bop, and Chris Evans, the biggest takeaway was when she described working on the project.

What Lizzo Said

“I’ve been working on ‘Special’ for how many years? I’ve been working on ’Special’ for three years. It’s changed a lot. I’ve written like three different albums, and I thought I had it every single time. I was like, ‘This is it! This is a hit!’ My label was like, ‘Keep going.’ You can’t rush greatness.”- Lizzo

In that casual response, the “About Damn Time” singer jokingly recalled how she submitted many songs for the album, but her team encouraged her to keep at it. According to Lizzo, they even said the phrase, “You can’t rush greatness.” Now “About Damn Time i”s her fourth top hit, and some think her fourth studio album will attract older listeners because of the beats.

Why Was This Message Important

However, it is the message that Lizzo delivered that stuck with me because everyone needs to know that greatness does not come overnight. For those of us who are connected to social media, it appears that way much of the time, but that is far from the truth. Look at Lizzo, who was at one time living out of her car while trying to catch a break in the music industry.

Most of us were not even aware of her until we heard “Truth Hurts” on Netflix’s “Someone Great,” but the 2019 Time’s Entertainer of the Year had been out for years before then. Her greatness took its dear time.

Inspiring Message

So today, don’t forget to practice patience and show yourself grace because it will not happen overnight.

And don’t forget to check out Lizzo’s “Special” album.
