Sisterhood rang out The Table Women’s Empowerment Summit this past weekend in College Park, Maryland. Presented by Polished Events, LLC, under the direction of Lakesha Bunn, the third annual event drew in over 100 women and a few men.
Set at The Hotel at The University of Maryland, the summit attracted women seeking solutions to invisible, yet not uncommon barriers. Hosted by TV personality, Autumn Joi of Autumn Joi Live, the day was filled with panels by leaders in various fields and thought-provoking conversations. The women shared amazing stories of strength and overcoming issues such as drug and substance abuse within themselves and close family members, domestic abuse, teen pregnancies, and more.
But there was also a sense of wealth present, as many of the speakers and guests alike were successful individuals with multiple businesses. One thing we liked the most was everyone seemed so friendly and open to making further connections. Women laughed and complimented each other as we complemented each other in our loud colors and patterns.
Dr. Cheryl Wood was the keynote speaker for The Table. Dr. Wood is a 2x TEDx Speaker, Best-Selling Author, and Founder of Voices of Change Media, a visionary company that illuminates the narratives of women who are dedicated to building a more hopeful, equitable, and innovative future. She spoke about how she overcame living in the projects in Baltimore to becoming a millionaire and traveling the world with her husband and three kids.
