The Brittney Griner saga continues as The Biden administration has determined that the women’s basketball star is being wrongfully detained by the Russian government. The shift in classification means the United States will work more aggressively to secure her release due to the case now being handled by the U.S. Presidential Envoy for Hostage Affairs. This particular State Department specializes in negotiating for the release of hostages who are being wrongfully detained in other countries.

One of the most critical issues that plague us as a people is highlighted in April. That issue is child abuse. In 1983, per presidential proclamation, April became Child Abuse Prevention Month. CAPM was established because children worldwide were being abused and neglected. Research on child development shows that early trauma can be passed down through generations, e.g., generational pain or curses, and can cause cognitive, physical and emotional delays.

“The Cook Out” is a Space For Black Unity, Everyone Shouldn’t Be Invited

Picture it, summer time 2022. The sun is shinning, there is a slight breeze and the temperature is a perfect 78 degrees. This is the perfect time to fire up the grill and have a cookout. Grandma is in the kitchen finishing up her potato salad, the uncles are setting up the spades and dominoes tables while the cousins are headed to the store to grab ice and drinks. This my friends, is the beginning of a staple in Black culture known as “The Cookout.”

The global pandemic known as COVID-19 took the world by storm when it reached it’s peak a few months into the year 2020. Social activities were put on hold as we were introduced to the quarantine. Two years later the world is taking steps to a return to normalcy. More jobs are transitioning from remote back to in-person, and entertainment events have let the fans back into the arenas. Too Many Instances: Banking While Black

It seems that being Black and trying to perform regular mundane tasks such as making a deposit or withdrawal is a reason to be profiled and criminalized. The following instances show a pattern that needs to be stopped. History-making Director Ryan Coogler was profiled while banking as he was trying to be discreet while making a bank withdrawal. Per TMZ, The Bank of America teller deemed this note as suspicious and called the cops, reporting an attempted robbery. Coogler was detained along with the two individuals that were with him.
