Cynthia Bailey joins Dr. Yan Katsnelson and celebrity advocates for an evening of women’s health education and fibroid awareness.
For many women, uterine fibroids are far more than a medical diagnosis. They can shape daily life, careers, fertility, mental health, and overall quality of life. Yet despite being one of the most common gynecological conditions among women, fibroids remain a topic that is often misunderstood or left out of public conversation. For Black women in particular, the impact is even more significant. For Black women, the statistics are particularly alarming. Research estimates that nearly 80 percent will develop uterine fibroids by the age of 50, often experiencing symptoms earlier and more severely than women of other racial and ethnic groups. Coupled with longstanding disparities in diagnosis, treatment, and access to specialized healthcare, the condition has become not only a women’s health issue but also an issue of health equity.
On Thursday, July 30, New York City will provide a platform for those conversations as The Fibroids Foundation presents the inaugural Fibroid Fighters Summit: Your Health in Full Bloom at the New York Marriott Marquis. Guided by renowned fibroid specialist Dr. Yan Katsnelson and hosted by Cynthia Bailey alongside media personality Kym Lee, the summit will bring together physicians, advocates, and public figures to encourage educated discussions surrounding women’s health. Celebrity guests Toya Wright, Shereé Whitfield, and Shay Johnson are scheduled to participate in panel conversations designed to educate attendees through both medical expertise and personal experiences. The evening will conclude with a special performance by Grammy-nominated recording artist Jordin Sparks.

More than a celebrity gathering, the summit is intended to connect women with trusted information about fibroids, treatment options, and the importance of detecting symptoms early. Through educational panels and community dialogue, organizers hope attendees depart feeling well informed and empowered to advocate for their own health. Founded by Dr. Katsnelson and his wife, Fibroid Fighters was established to increase awareness of uterine fibroids while connecting women with educational resources, support networks, and access to treatment. The organization’s work shows a growing movement to lower stigma surrounding women’s reproductive health and encourage more frank conversations between patients and doctors.
The summit additionally highlights the important role public figures can play in boosting public health programs. As a Fibroid Fighters Ambassador, Cynthia Bailey has helped bring greater visibility to a condition that impacts millions of women but has historically received far less public attention than other major health issues. As awareness surrounding uterine fibroids continues to expand, initiatives like the Fibroid Fighters Summit point out the importance of making women’s health conversations more visible and accessible. By bringing together medical professionals, advocates, and public figures, the event seeks to encourage education, diminish stigma, and empower women to become informed advocates for their own health. The Fibroid Fighters Summit: Your Health in Full Bloom takes place on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at the New York Marriott Marquis, located at 1535 Broadway in Times Square. The evening begins at 6:00 p.m. Those interested in attending can learn more and purchase tickets by visiting FibroidFighters.org.
As conversations surrounding women’s health continue to evolve, events like the Fibroid Fighters Summit demonstrate how education, advocacy, and community participation can work together to encourage women to seek answers, understand their options, and attend to their health. In a city that frequently acts as a stage for important dialogue, the inaugural summit aims to ensure that one of the most common health conditions affecting women obtains the attention and conversation it deserves.
