MetroMorphosis Announces Transition of Founder Raymond A. Jetson

MetroMorphosis has announced the upcoming transition of its Founder and Co-Lead, Raymond A. Jetson, marking the close of a 15-year chapter that helped shape the organization into a nationally recognized social enterprise.

Jetson will conclude his tenure on December 31, 2025. His work with MetroMorphosis began in 2010 as a community-wide conversation titled Imagining a Better Baton Rouge. What started as dialogue grew into a movement centered on community-led solutions, civic imagination, and urban transformation.

Under Jetson’s visionary leadership practice, MetroMorphosis mobilized thousands of residents and launched initiatives that continue to influence communities nationwide. His legacy includes the creation of the Urban Congress on African American Males and the national Aging While Black movement, both designed to elevate lived experiences and address systemic inequities through collective action.

A defining feature of MetroMorphosis has been its intergenerational co-leadership model, pairing Jetson’s decades of public service with the nonprofit expertise of Sherreta R. Harrison, who serves as Chief Executive Catalyst. That model will remain central to the organization’s future.

To honor this structure, MetroMorphosis has announced plans to launch a national search for a new Co-Lead in Summer 2026. Harrison will continue leading the organization’s strategic vision throughout the transition.

“Raymond’s leadership practice has been a masterclass in community-led change,” Harrison said. “His impact will continue to shape how we imagine and build thriving urban communities.”

Reflecting on the transition, Jetson shared confidence in the organization’s direction and leadership.

“MetroMorphosis was built on the belief that communities hold the wisdom and power to shape their own future,” he said. “As I prepare for my next chapter, I am confident that this belief is alive and well.”

MetroMorphosis remains committed to mobilizing people to design and implement sustainable solutions from within their own communities, continuing the foundation built over the past decade and a half.
