Real healing will take place at The Table Women’s Empowerment Summit.
Known as The Table, this event, brought to you by Polished Events, LLC, has been a beacon of hope for women and empowerment since 2019. It’s not just an event; it’s a safe space for women and sisterhood. This year’s summit, with its unique blend of empowerment, personal growth, and networking, promises to be an unforgettable experience.
When asked about the inspiration for The Table, Lakesha Bunn, the visionary behind the successful event, says, “My inspiration definitely came from my mom. You know how you know a lot of women in our community, Brown and Black women that are workaholics. My mom was one of those women. She did for everyone, including me and my sisters. But she did not do for herself. She did not give back to herself.”
The event producer continued, “Sadly, she passed away from breast cancer in 2005. And so, I wanted to utilize my skills as an event planner to put on events that will help women in the community, women who look just like my mom, or women who look like myself. I had my first child at 18 and did not know what my next steps were, you know, or women who may know their purpose but just need help in finding the next steps.”
This year’s event theme is Reflecting to Regain, as attendees are to look back at their past to gain access to their future selves. “We’re diving into topics such as childhood trauma and anything that’s holding you back from becoming the best version of yourself,” explains Bunn.
The Table will be divided into three parts, and serious matters, such as conquering childhood trauma, generational cycles, burnout/stress, strong women’s syndrome, building a brand, money management, and more, will be discussed.
Hosted by TV personality Autumn Joi of Autumn Joi Live, The Table will feature Dr. Cheyl Wood as its keynote speaker. Dr. Wood is an international keynote speaker, 2x TEDx speaker, best-selling author, and Founder of Voices of Change Media, a visionary company that illuminates the narratives of women who are dedicated to building a more hopeful, equitable, and innovative future.
There will also be a series of panels with special guests. The panelists include the following:
- Kayla Harley
- Dr. Rita Lewis
- Adrianna Dunnock
- Sharon Taylor

- Jonathan Wright

The Table will occur on July 28, 2024, at The Hotel at the University of Maryland in College Park, MD.
