Actor, Producer Omar Epps and Rapper, Producer, Tauheed “2 Chainz” Epps premiered the short film, Red Clay, at the Annual Atlanta Film Festival on May 03, 2025, in Atlanta, followed by a Q&A session. As the moguls mingled with media and movie lovers, 2 Chainz and Omar proceeded to explain the inspiration behind the film.
Red Clay captured the essence and story of 2 Chainz as an adolescent while growing up in Atlanta. Red Clay resonated with the audience, delivering a real, raw, and uncut reality of a period in 2 Chainz’s life as he and a friend navigated life challenges such as grief from a childhood friend’s mom overdosing to Chain’s mom battling drug addiction.
The short film left a lasting impression on the audience, with hopes of a sequel.
During the red carpet interview with SwagHer Magazine, Omar Epps stated, “The movie is based on the life of 2 Chainz, a young teenager trying to find his way.” Epps went on to say, “The film is powerful; it’s about the trenches and all of that stuff, but it’s more about how people become who they are through circumstances that are uncomfortable, then ultimately find their way. This story is one that could be used as a tool of inspiration for people that may come from similar backgrounds.”
When asked what advice he would give to upcoming filmmakers who are trying to make it in the industry, Epps said, “To all the filmmakers out there, keep doing what you do, make your own traditions and study your craft.”
2 Chainz also gave a statement when asked what advice he would give up-and-coming actors and entertainers, he stated, “Don’t give up; never quit.”
In honor of the film Red Clay, 2 Chainz released his latest single “The ATL Experience” featuring Ronald Isley & The Isley Brothers, which serves as the first single from the “Red Clay” soundtrack.
