A New Fresh Prince of Bel-Air

Now, this is a story all about how my life got flipped, turned upside down, and I’d like to take a minute, just sit right there, I’ll tell you how I became the prince of a town called Bel-Air. Y’all remember the 90’s tv show, right? I do! I watched Will, his cousins, and their friends’  shenanigans every week, while Uncle Phil, Aunt Viv, and Geoffrey were around trying to put out all their fires and keep them in line. The show was hilarious to me. For six seasons, I laughed at all their craziness, and the few times I didn’t laugh; I was crying right along with them.

Remember the episode where Will’s already absentee father, Lou, showed up and they were supposed to go on a trip together? Will was all packed and ready to go; only to be disappointed by Lou once again, when he left and didn’t take Will with him. That scene between him and Uncle Phil was so emotional. I remember shedding a tear myself. I’m tearing up now, just thinking about it. Ok, enough! LOL!

Anyway, it was recently announced that there’s a new Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reboot. I don’t know how to feel about that. Do I  even want to see a new Fresh Prince of Bel-Air? I mean, for me, just like The Cosby Show and  A Different World, Fresh Prince was another classic.

The new cast was announced and here’s the line-up: The role of Will is being played by up-and-coming actor, Jabari Banks, the role of Uncle Phil will be played by Adrian Holmes, Aunt Viv will be played by Cassandra  Freeman, Carlton will be played by Olly Sholotan, Hilary will be played by Coco Jones, Ashley will be played by Akira Akbar, Geoffrey will be played by Jimmy Akingbola, Jazz will be played by Jordan L. Jones, and Lisa will be played by Simone Joy Jones. I’m not very familiar with these actors, but they have some large shoes to fill. Let’s hope they’re up for the challenge.  I’ll give them a chance. LOL!

It has been stated that it will be a one-hour sitcom versus the  30-minute format of the original and is currently scheduled for two seasons. The series will be filmed in Los Angeles and Philadelphia.
