A Seat at the Table: Stars and Sisterhood at the Pow(H)er Awards Dinner

The insane notion that women of color can’t be/work together is a long drawn out urban legend, an ugly fictitious myth, similar to Black isn’t beautiful.

Imagine a packed room full of shining SiStars, all with individual PowHers and heroic stories.

I’ve been in many spaces, and I’ve witnessed what it means to wholeheartedly support the women in your life and circle. CEO/Founder of Tené Nicole Marketing & Public Relations, Nikkia McClain’s award and dinner soirée was a reminder of sisterhood and what it means to “Support Your Girlfriends”.

Hearing all the brilliant boss beauties speak about their lows, highs and individual journeys was a much needed jolt of inspiration.

The annual Pow(H)er Awards & Dinner wasn’t just about the respected honorees, Wendy Williams (Queen of Media); Soledad O’Brien (award winning journalist); Tamika D. Mallory (social justice activist), Tina Davis (music powerhouse), Psyche Terry (owner Urban Hydration), Miss Diddy (owner of The Brand Group), but the building up of each and every woman in attendance.

L to R: Tamika D. Mallory, Soledad O’ Brian, Psyche Terry,Wendy Williams, Nikkia McClain, Tina Davis, and Miss Diddy.

Nikkia’s team of amazing shero leaders did amazing creating a euphoric mood. From the fun interactive photo booth, massage station, a serenaded performance by artist Jade Novah, jewelry vendor, silent auction, an appetizing meal with delectable deserts, everything was perfect.

Not to be unnoted, the colorfully chic ambience featuring floral decor, pretty pink napkins with sparkling rings, uplifting signage strategically positioned to promote a smile and positive thought. A vision executed by @My_Angelic_Creations. With selfie worthy moments left and right, and every woman dressed to the nines it was a sea of slayage.

And I can’t miss the amazing fully loaded gift bags packed with over 20 amazing brands.

With many takeaways for the evening,

The four that stood out the most were:

1 Be unapologetically authentic.

2 Build your circle & create a Glossy Posse.

3 Black Girls been Rocking & been Magical.

4 Let God take the reign over your life and watch him work wonders.

With this gathering, we learned Nikkia is also the epitome and full embodiment of Pow(H)er using her abilities to spread awareness, celebrate and honor women, build through love, create safe spaces and continuously help Support Your Girlfriend.

We’re looking forward to next year’s fun!
