Charmian Stephens has gone through a few road bumps, but to date, she is now the proud entrepreneur of five businesses operated out of the Metro Atlanta and West Georgia areas, under the name of Stephens Premium Business Consultants. One being her publication, The Ultimate Entrepreneur Magazine, where she is the founder/publisher/CEO. Charmian sees the magazine as the gateway to establishing a monthly connection with her followers, and she takes pride in being able to show other entrepreneurs the path to success.
Starting out, the Georgia Perimeter College alum states that she didn’t have a constant person that was guiding her through every step of the way and being a business owner is very difficult without the proper tools and resources. The Ultimate Entrepreneur Magazine provides just that and so much more. Charmian just recently finished filming her first very own reality series, “The Ultimate Entrepreneur†which aired on FOX54. The show was a mini-series that depicted reality TV in a positive light.
She credits her success to God Almighty and her loving husband that has been the solid foundation in her life. In her spare time, she enjoys serving her community in every way possible. Previously she served on the board of directors for a cancer foundation that contributes to families financially, physically, and any other way possible while dealing with terminal illnesses. Charmian is also the Area Cluster leader that oversees 10 advocates, that help mentor teenagers in youth detention centers which are transitioning back into society.
In her field of enjoyment (Tax Preparation/Business Consulting), Charmian dedicates and prides herself on educating her clients on how to accurately file his or her tax return. Charmian has been labeled by her peers as, “The Ultimate Entrepreneur†because she is known for taking a business and growing it beyond any business owner’s imagination. She’s also the founder of The Annual Ultimate Entrepreneurship Seminar which recently held a sold-out event in LaGrange, GA.
Charmian also created the Ultimate Entrepreneur Mentorship Course. This is a course that she created to help young entrepreneurs start their business. This course gives them all the tools and resources needed to be successful. Although she loves what she does, nothing compares to her greatest achievement, which is the marriage uniting her with her loving husband Alvin. From this union, four beautiful children came about, whom she adores. They are her WHY, her reason for pushing daily. Charmian and Alvin, also have a mission to help marriages by showing them that no matter what obstacles come your way, a true marriage can sustain the test of times. We believe in marriage and the unity of it, and because of that, Alvin and Charmian create a series called, “Chatting with Alvin and Charmian Stephens†which is aired weekly on Facebook live and YouTube. The publisher and serialpreneur was also recently elected as the 40 under 40 Most Influential Business Woman in the Southeast.
Fancy: How would you describe your swagher? What makes Charmian, Charmian?
Charmian: I often find myself wondering how I managed to get so far in life, and I often attribute my success to the willingness to never give up. My perception of the word “NO†is completely different from most. I look at it as a way not to do it again and continue to move towards my goals. What makes Charmian, is her unique mindset that anything is possible. She is by nature an overcomer and an overachiever.
Fancy: How long have you published The Ultimate Entrepreneur Magazine and what inspired it?
Charmian: The Ultimate Entrepreneur Magazine is in its second year, and we’re super excited about all the exposure it’s had. The inspiration came from a seminar that I host annually and me just wanting something that our followers can have on hand when needed. This magazine is to inspire, promote, encourage, and equip business owners that they can do it. This magazine is also filled with wisdom and knowledge to help aid in one’s entrepreneurial journey.
Fancy: What do you enjoy most about your work?
Charmian: I love helping others bring their dreams to life and showing them that they can be successful given the right tools and dedication. I call this my field of enjoyment, because when you are doing what you love you’ll never work a day in your life.
Fancy: How would you describe The Ultimate Entrepreneur?
Charmian: The Ultimate Entrepreneur is a beast…Lol, she gets the job done without any hesitation! The Ultimate Entrepreneur can be anyone that displays the right mindset and focus. We all have on the inside of us a sleeping giant that just needs that little nudge and motivation. My duty is to awake what is already existing and to help see it to the finish line.
Fancy: Are there any skills or traits that you acquired in corporate America that you would attribute to your success today?
Charmian: Yes! Dealing with people and Interpersonal skills. One must be willing to understand all personalities and that we’re all different. Feelings must be checked at the door and have no place in business. Communication on all levels is a requirement and will contribute to the success or failure of your business. Communication must be concise and clear while working with your clientele.
Fancy: From your experience, please share three tips for aspiring entrepreneurs.
Charmian: I always say as a business owner one MUST possess the following traits: Create, Implement, and Execute. Be creative, always think outside of the box. Take those ideas and implement them into your business. Finally, Execute! Always see the task through and never give up.
Fancy: Can you describe an obstacle you overcame and how you did you so?
Charmian: The obstacle that I will always remember is the day that I was removed from Corporate America, terminated. I knew that I was destined to be a business owner. In fact, it had been spoken to me not only by my husband but my awesome God that I serve. I decided to deny the destiny and call on my life. That day was the most challenging day of my life. I finally decided that I had something great on the inside of me, but I had two choices. One was to die with it on the inside or live and tap into greatness, needless to say, the rest was history. Overcoming this extremely difficult moment in my life was amazing, and I’m so happy I decided destiny over mediocrity.
Fancy: What was it like to be recognized as a 40 Under 40 Businesswoman in the Southeast honoree?
Charmian: This experience was incredible and very rewarding. It was an experience that I will always remember. Entrepreneurship is very hard; however, the fruits of your labor are very rewarding. I made it my mission to continue to strive for excellence not only recognition, but to inspire, empower, and equip the masses.
Fancy: How do you balance your work and home life?
Charmian: WOW!!! This is a hard but a required task. I usually set a time frame for work and family. The key is to never allow the two to cross each other. When it’s family time, work-related calls are not to be taken. I try to take one day a week and dedicate it to my family. Family is important and must not be put on the back burner. Now, understand in business every day isn’t perfect and sometimes things will happen, but it’s very important to ensure that you bring things back in line.
Fancy: What are you currently reading?
Charmian: I love to read books that challenge me, books that cause me to do a self-check. My current book is Author Priscilla Shirer book entitled Fervent. I’m a spiritual being, and I believe that some things take more than just a simple 2-minute prayer. Sometimes we must go before the father and really pray, fast, and call those things into existence. My motto is to read things of substance or don’t bother reading.
