Christina: How would you describe your SwagHer? What makes Felicia, Felicia?
Felicia: I can’t help but laugh at this question. In all honesty, I can be intense, brutally honest. No questions about it. But I am also funny, but most importantly driven. I am driven by the life I know God has for me; it’s just a matter of me doing my part to obtain it.Â
Christina: In your bio, it says that writing helped you deal with specific problems in life. Writing to help with some personal issues is completely different than becoming an author. What inspired you to become an author of not one, but five books?Â
Felicia: Yes, I dealt with depression and anxiety as a child, and writing helped me to deal with it. Becoming an author honestly wasn’t all that different. I simply wrote more geared toward the reader and did the work to have them published. I became an author because I knew there were things I had been through and experienced that had the potential to encourage or help someone else. Even if it was just through entertainment, creating books that I wish I would have found when I was going through different trials in life inspired me.Â
Christina: How did you start your publishing company, and why?
Felicia: I worked with a good friend to get all of the paperwork done. Once the proper paperwork was filed, it was just a matter of ensuring I had the right graphics, software, and foundation. I created the company because I went from being Independently Published to self-published. I have interviewed numerous authors that had horror story experiences getting published, and I wanted to create a company that could cater to those desiring to get out there. What sets my company apart, however, is that publishing the book is not necessarily the primary focus; it’s the jump start. At Hustle Write Publication LLC, I wanted to make sure I helped authors to generate multiple streams of income with their stories.Â
Christina: Can you tell our readers about your upcoming book, “Gospel Girl Savage: Journey To Genuine Authenticity”?
Felicia: Absolutely. This book is one of those that definitely steps on toes. But it shares portions of my journey to building a genuine relationship with God, rather than cultivating tradition or religion. I share the things that helped open my eyes. I include biblical references of women in the Bible who wouldn’t have met the ideal “standard” for being a Christian according to religion.Â
Christina: Why did you create your podcast, “Boss In The Making”? What type of topics do you discuss there?Â
Felicia: I created “Boss in the Making” when I published my first book in January 2020. I created the podcast to help encourage and inspire others to become entrepreneurs. The podcast essentially documents every aspect of my journey, from publishing my first book to owning a business, and whatever else may come next. I share the good, bad, and ugly of trying to become your own boss.Â
Christina: You are an author and businesswoman, yet you still have a full-time job. How do you manage it all?
Felicia: With COVID-19, it has made everything much more manageable due to working from home. But the easy answer is, I prioritize my time. I schedule meetings and consults once I am off from my day job, and I create a schedule weekly to ensure I am properly working on projects as they deem necessary.Â
Christina: Who or What inspires you to continue writing?Â
Felicia: God is my biggest inspiration. Without Him, I am constantly reminded that none of this would be possible. After God, seeing the number of people I am able to help, and looking back on the success I have accomplished in a small amount of time with God’s help continues to inspire me daily.Â
Christina: Do you have any upcoming projects that you would like to share?
Felicia: Outside of “Gospel Girl Savageâ€, I don’t have any current book projects. I am now offering webinars for individuals who don’t want to Independent Publish, so through the webinar, they can get in-depth teaching on how to self- publish and make it easy. Just for SwagHer readers, these webinars are 10% off with code SWAG at checkout via learn.hustlewritepublication.com
Christina: Is there anything additional you would like our readers to know?Â
Felicia: Everyone should have a book. Writing a book was the easiest way I was able to set myself up for success. If you are considering writing a book, do it. If you have a story to tell, write, and publish a book. It is worth it if you put the work in.
