Sathya Callender is the mother of five beautiful children, domestic violence advocate, overcomer of domestic abuse, motivational speaker, and multi-stream entrepreneur. From being a teen mom to living in a shelter as a young woman to being a single mother of four children. Sathya was raised without a father, watching her mother being abused, being in the bondage of an abuser, and through all the trials and tribulations. Sathya knew God would never leave her nor forsake her. Through it all, she knew he had a plan, a plan for her to be set free, to survive, and overcome all the enemy thought would destroy her. To walk in her purpose, her love, and her passion to now encourage, empower and inspire other women to not only survive but also to overcome, to know that God is a healer and he will never leave us or forsake us. Sathya will continue to walk in her purpose with love, being that vessel, that voice when there is no voice. AllisonJanel: How would you describe your SwagHer? What makes Sathya, Sathya?
Sathya: I would describe my SwagHer as being a woman that’s unstoppable. No matter what trials and tribulations I’ve gone through, I push through. Sathya’s strength to go forward despite everything she’s been through. She has a goal-getter mentality, and everything she does is done with love, morals, values, and respect. Sathya is the leader of leaders, continuously empowering her sisters to push beyond their potential and never giving up. To know her is to love her.ÃÂ
AllisonJanel: Do you believe that you were the product of intergenerational domestic violence?
Sathya: I believe I was the product of intergenerational domestic violence as I watched my mother get abused in every form of abuse for eight years. Watching this behavior, not having my father in my life much allowed me to learn this was an acceptable way in which a woman was to be treated.
AllisonJanel: How would you define healing retrospective to domestic violence?
Sathya: I would define healing retrospective to domestic violence as not only surviving but learning to regain hope, courage, love, trust, faith, and strength. The most important step in healing is to forgive so that you can be forgiven.
AllisonJanel: Walk us through your steps taken that led you to become an overcomer?
Sathya: The steps that led me to become an overcomer was not only to survive, but I had to forgive. I had to not only find the strength to forgive myself but my abuser as well. Once I forgave, I felt a sense of being free, what an amazing feeling that was. The most important is putting God first and growing a closer relationship with him.
AllisonJanel: How has religion played a part in your journey?
Sathya: Religion has played a part in my journey because I’ve learned that God comes first and never leaves me nor forsakes new. I learned to trust his process. God kept through everything, the good, and what I thought was bad. I know without him, I wouldn’t be the woman I’m today.
AllisonJanel: Please tell us more about the books you authored and where can they be purchased.ÃÂ
Sathya: I’ve co-authored six books which have become bestsellers. “I AM Women’s Edition” is a 31-page book of affirmations and prayers for women. “God Says I’M Battle Scar-Free”, a seven-series book, compiles with stories of several writers, including myself, as we share how we survived and overcame many obstacles in life. My books can be purchased on my website: www.sathyacallender.com
AllisonJanel: How did you get involved with PYT, and what does it stand for?
Sathya: I got involved with PYT (Positive Young Teens) in 2015. I decided to join because, at the time, my children were teens, and I loved the mission and what they stood for in helping teens become positive, productive citizens in society.
AllisonJanel: What led you to start Kutie Patooties Gift Boutique?
Sathya: What led me to start Kutie Patooties Gift Boutique was the passion to make gift-giving fun, creative, and unique and wanting to provide gifts of creativity and quality.ÃÂ
AllisonJanel: If a person is a victim of domestic violence and needs help, how can Scars of Survival help them?
Sathya: Scars of Survival Inc. can help a victim or survivor by providing the necessary resources needed to help them survive and overcome domestic violence. Our mission is to help transform the lives of those individuals affected by domestic violence.
AllisonJanel: Where do you find the time to be involved in all these positive projects, while being a full-time mother?
Sathya: I find the time to get involved with projects, having three businesses and being a mother but balancing my time. I prioritize by importance.
AllisonJanel: What continues to keep you motivated and moving forward?
Sathya: What keeps me motivated and moving forward is knowing first that my family is watching me. I want them to be led by example and carry on my legacy and number two, knowing that I’m helping change lives and making a positive impact in society and continuing to walk in my God-given purpose. Pleasing God is number one!
AllisonJanel: What has been your greatest accomplishment while on your journey helping others?
Sathya: My greatest accomplishment is not only finding the Scars of Survival Inc. but launching Scars of Survival Magazine LLC.
AllisonJanel: Do you have any upcoming events or projects that you care to share?
Sathya: I’ll be starting my bi-monthly retreats after the summer of this year. The organization will also be planning its 2nd Thanksgiving turkey drive and 1st annual Christmas party.
AllisonJanel: Is there anything additional that you would like our readers to know?
Sathya: Please be sure to purchase either a magazine issue or subscription and sign up for our newsletter. I’m always looking for volunteers as well.
