Fancy: How would you describe your swagher? What makes Sharla, Sharla?

Sharla: I would describe my swagher as confident, beautiful, inspiring and spiritual. Oh wow, a combination of things makes me Sharla, my creativity, my uniqueness, my style, my trials and tribulations, my scars, my strength, my faith and more.

Fancy: So first you were a chef/caterer and then an author. Is that correct?

Sharla: Yes, that would be correct. Once I realized people would actually buy my food, that’s when I became a caterer. Writing was a challenge, because I don’t use recipes when I cook.

Fancy: What inspired you to start writing?

Sharla: Well, it was God that inspired me. Once I knew I had what it takes to write, it opened me up to receive so much more.

Fancy: Please share a little about your latest book, “Pizza Anyway You Want It”.

Sharla: Pizza Anyway You Want is a book that is fun that doesn’t require recipes. I want cooks to create their own recipe. We all have different palates. What tastes or sounds good to you, may not to me. The book is filled with inspirations, information, scriptures and beautiful photos.

Fancy: I noticed your first book was entitled “Cooking with Jesus” and with your second one, “Pizza Anyway You Want It”, I noticed it’s described as spiritual pizza. So is it safe to say your faith is important to you?

Sharla: Yes, my faith very important to me. I love God, and I’m not ashamed to let anyone know it. Without my faith, without God, I don’t know where I would be today.

Fancy: What type of cooks do you think will enjoy “Pizza Anyway….”?

Sharla: The cook that likes breaking culinary rules, the cook that’s all about personal expression, and the cook that loves God.

Fancy: You also have your own line of seasonings. Are they good for pairing with the pizza recipes in the book?

Sharla: Of course, Flavour Spice Blends are great for pairing with pizza and more. I have several flavours/blends to use in any dish.

Fancy: I also noticed you started cooking in your early teen years. Do you have any tips for getting today’s teenagers into the kitchen?

Sharla: Yes I do. You must be passionate and enjoy what you’re cooking. Cook with love and cooking can be fun. Always know there’s room for improvement on any dish if it doesn’t turn out right. If cooking is your passion, go to a great culinary school or take as many classes you can. Don’t be afraid of cooking. Try it, you may like it. Let your creativity flow.

Fancy: Do you have any upcoming events or projects that you care to share?

Sharla: Sure, I’m starting to make plans for my second food tasting, I have five more cookbooks that I’m writing, and I’ll begin teaching cooking classes to the masses really soon. I’m leveling up!
