Fancy: Welcome back, Tanisha! What’s new with you? I see that you recently converted your business to a full ghostwriting business. How does that differ from in the past?
Tanisha: With my publishing company, we would receive a manuscript from the client (already written) and start our publishing services from that point, which includes editing and book cover and layout design services. With our ghostwriting services, we see the book from start to finish, meaning, we write the book for the client and then we complete the publishing aspect of it.
Fancy: What inspired this decision?
Tanisha; My passion is writing, so I love writing stories for myself and my clients. I found that writing brings me peace, so that was the deciding factor for me.
Fancy: So how did you start ghostwriting?
Tanisha: I am an author first and I love what I do, so when potential clients started approaching me and expressing that they would like to share their story, but they do not have the time or they do not know where to start, that’s when it came to me to expand my company to offer ghostwriting services.
Fancy: What is a Ghostwriting Business Diploma and how does one obtain one?
Tanisha: The course teaches you the business side of ghostwriting as well as the writing side of it. I feel like it is always a good idea to expand my knowledge in the field that I am in. You can research it on the internet the best options and programs for you to obtain your ghostwriting business diploma.
Fancy: What was it like working with Kim Coles?
Tanisha: Kim Coles is such a sweetheart; it was awesome working with her. Of course, we laughed the entire time.
Fancy: What career tips would you share with others who may have an interest in ghostwriting?
Tanisha: Write every day to develop your writing skills. You learn something new every day, so stay educated in your field.
Fancy: Switching gears, you lost your spouse to violence. How did you recover from that?
Tanisha: I never recovered from it; I deal with that loss every day. My children and I just learned how to live in our new normal. It affects us daily, especially when we have monumental events in our lives like my son turning 18 or him graduating early from high school this month. Him not being here huts every day. But with God and a lot of prayers, we continue to push through.
Fancy: Do you feel that this tragedy pushed you into your purpose?
Tanisha: I absolutely feel like this tragedy pushed me into my purpose. I never thought about being an author until my husband passed and my friend told me that I should write a book. I learned that writing brings me peace and helps me heal from life’s difficulties. So, after my first book did extremely well, I continued my journey as a writer, publisher, and now a ghostwriter.
Fancy: What’s next for you in 2022?
Tanisha: I decided to shift gears for the new year. Tanisha Mackin Publishing will still be my focus, as I will be helping others share their stories through writing. But I decided to start a series of fiction books. My very first fiction book will release on 1/1/22. I am excited about it.
