Fancy: How would you describe your swagher? What makes Veronica, Veronica?
Veronica: Veronica means “True Image and Bringer of Victory.†To describe Veronica’s swagher, she is an ambitious warrior and not a worrier that embodies determination, dedication, discipline, courage, respectfulness, trustworthiness, compassionate, loving, empathetic and is mindful of others, yet respects her own personal boundaries for self-care. Her mission is to assist others to live their best-blessed lives by developing their road map towards their true ID and not the ID society has placed upon them. She lives up to her swagher and meaning of her name by living up to an unwavering true image of a victorious Queen who overcame her life’s abusive trauma and utilizing my breakdowns as stepping stones to my breakthroughs. Meet this awesome transparent coach and new author below.
Fancy: You went from accounting to life coaching. Those are two very different paths. How did that come about?
Veronica: Everything I have experienced, good and bad, has allowed my becoming process to continue. Therefore, I do not see these as two different paths along my life’s journey. Every phase of life assists with my “NEXT†in my opinion. We must account for our actions daily, and this is a system of checks and balances such as noted in accounting. Thus, I can apply various accounting concepts such as “going concern†within the life coaching field as well. It is the desire of most individuals to live a profitable lifestyle for an indefinite period. When individuals are not mindful of their daily decisions, they can experience bankruptcy from happiness and peace of mind.
Life coaching consists of someone who encourages, serves as a guide and counsels clients concerning the matters of life that may appear as challenges or obstacles. Thus, my life’s experiences have crafted my specific niche of life coaching. Therefore, I don’t see my “Next†as a shift in a different direction, but a continuation of my life’s journey.
Fancy: So, do you coach full-time now?
Veronica: I am not an independent contractor full-time yet; however, I am a ‘parallelpreneur’ currently working towards my Next, moving to continue on as a dynamic transformational speaker, author, and life coach. However, coaching, in my opinion, is a lifestyle that I live in every area of my life; encouraging all that I meet is my mission even if it just a brief interaction.

Fancy: Please tell us a little about your newly released book, “God’s Diamond in the Rough†and what inspired it.
Veronica: “God’s Diamond in the Rough†is an autobiography about my life’s journey from my youth to the present. Dealing with the challenges of overcoming financial, physical, mental, spiritual, domestic violence and incestuous abuse. It was inspired by my miraculous mindfulness transformation that has led to the development of a balanced and much happier life. I now have a peace that surpasses all understanding as the elders say. It is a continual process of evolving towards my greater.
There are so many that have experienced similar forms of abuse feeling as if there is no hope in rising above depression, PTSD, anxiety or other mental challenges that may have formed from the abuse suffered. I choose to be a transparent example for others to follow towards their healing process, and I am praying that I can be the catalyst of change in the world I desire to see within the lives of those who experienced trauma.
Fancy: While I’m sure you discuss it in the book, can you share how one carries on an incestuous relationship for over twenty-years without giving away too many details.
Veronica: Simple… fear and training. I was trained to accept what was happening to me. It started at the age of five. The Bible states, “train up a child in the way that he should go and when he is old he will not depart.†Think about how people train animals etc.; it is the same concept….But, over time I questioned more and more what was going on; however, I did not have the strength to leave during my period of abuse. Just so the readers will know, he used the Bible and various forms of mind control over his family. Based on my birth father’s beliefs, I was his concubine, his property. He beat those beliefs into me.
Fancy: What type of toll did that situation take on your psyche and perspective of relationships?
Veronica: It almost destroyed me. I tried to commit suicide several times, and I was almost successful on February 16, 2002. I did not love my body at all. I felt that if I would not have been so shapely, he would not have continued molesting me. I suffered from severe depression, PSTD, and anxiety causing great health issues and challenges on my job and my marriage, and it was trying on my children. Children can feel the emotions of their mother during pregnancy, and I caused emotional trauma within my womb. (Yes, there is such a thing. Here is the link to one article about it, https://psychcentral.com/blog/emotional-trauma-in-the-womb/)
At first, I hated God for allowing this to happen to me. I did not understand how there could be a God of love, and He allowed this type of hurt and pain to someone that was innocent. Over time, I realized we all have a choice, and it was not God, but it was his sick and perverted mind that did this. It was my decision to get me out of this situation. It was my decision to not allow his choices to break me. It was my decision to say ‘enough is enough’ and that I am worth more than this. It was my decision to stop living in the past and stay in the present so that I can begin to live my BEST BLESSED LIFE.
Fancy: Have you been able to forgive your abuser since ending the relationship?
Veronica: Yes, I have forgiven my birth father for his actions. I have not spoken to him for some time. This is not a relationship that could end. We can’t divorce our parents; we can only disassociate from them. He is who he continues to choose to be.
Fancy: What advice would you give to others about forgiveness?
Veronica: I would tell others that forgiveness is not for the perpetrator, but for your true peace of mind. If I held hate in my heart, he still would have had control over me and the thoughts that were in my mind. Once I forgave him, I found peace, joy, contentment and the ability to start loving life truly. Hate would have kept my mind in prison. Forgiveness did not mean I had to be around him neither as most people who have harmed someone feels. Knowing your triggers and being within his presence would have challenged my peace. So, I forgave him and kept my distance for self-love.
Fancy: Do you have any upcoming events or projects that you would care to share? Yes, I do.
Veronica: July 14th is Rebirth Magazine’s 6th Annual Legend Awards Purple and Gold Affair, and I will be one of the many vendors selling autograph copies of God’s Diamond in the Rough for $18.00. Tickets are on sale for this wonderful event to be held at the Jewel J. Newman Community Center 203 Central Rd. Baton Rouge, La. 70807. Tickets are available on www.eventbrite.com.
