Aw Ish!
Executive Producer and Writer Kenya Barris is back at it again with a new spinoff to the ‘ish’ series. From Black-ish, Grown-ish, Mix-ish and now the newest of the ‘ish’ family is ‘Old-ish’ that will star two amazing actors Jennifer Lewis and Laurence Fishburne that has been apart of the original Black-ish franchise from the start. Bringing in the oldies but goodies, the show will focus on the parents of Anthony Anderson on the show, Ruby Johnson (Jennifer Lewis) and Earl ‘Pops’ Johnson (Laurence Fishburne)
According to The Hollywood Reporter
Fishburne has been an executive producer on Black-ish since the very beginning. Barris left ABC with a deal with Netflix back in August of 2018, but will write the script and executive produce alongside with Fishburne, Anderson and others. ‘Old-ish’ is a spinoff that will follow Ruby and Earl as they give love a second chance. When they move to a neighborhood in LA, they will meet characters who represent the old and new faces of the community while still working on their marriage again. The show will air a two-part special to kick off the seventh season of Black-ish and will be directed by Oscar winner Matthew A. Cherry. The show will be debuting on October 4th on ABC.
