Black theater took center stage in a recent What’s Going On (WGO) interview, where correspondent Jennifer Harris sat down with actresses Demetria McKinney and Claudia Jordan to discuss their roles in the stage play Games Women Play. Written by Je’Caryous Johnson, known for Set It Off Live, and directed by Carl Payne, recognized for his work on Martin: The Reunion, the production explores the complexities of relationships through the lens of romantic mind games. Following its highly anticipated opening last Thursday in Washington, D.C., the stars shared their excitement about bringing this story to life on stage.
During the conversation, McKinney and Jordan highlighted the cast’s strong camaraderie and the crucial role of costume design in shaping their characters. They also offered glimpses into their personal projects—Claudia’s upcoming film Run and Demetria’s latest music—while rallying support for Black theater. The interview underscored the play’s cultural relevance, encouraging audiences to engage with its thought-provoking themes and support the arts.
