Nick Gordon, the ex-boyfriend of Bobbi Kristina Brown has died from a suspected drug overdose on New Year’s Day in Florida. Gordon’s brother, Jack Walker Jr., confirmed Gordon’s passing. “We are devastated by the loss of my beautiful brother. He leaves a void in the hearts of my family and his friends. Nick’s battle in life was not an easy one. I will be forever grateful that my God afforded a small moment at the very end of Nick’s life and I was able to hold his hand as he journeyed on.” Nick Gordon’s death comes close to five years after Bobbi Kristina.
Whitney Houston, the iconic singer, and mother of Bobbi Kristina, brought Gordon into her household as an orphan. She began raising the then 12-year old Gordon, and her 8-year old daughter after her divorce from Bobby Brown in 2007.ÃÂ
On February 11, 2012, Houston was found unconscious in the bathtub of her hotel suite. She was pronounced dead a short time later. Her death was caused by drowning and the effects of heart disease and cocaine use. After Houston passed away, Nick Gordon and Bobbi Kristina went public with their romantic situation. Bobbi Kristina’s family didn’t support the new status with Gordon. They felt the affiliation was awkward and he was too controlling. The relationship between Gordon and Bobbi Kristina was filled with both of them displaying erratic behavior and drug use.
On January 31, 2015, Gordon found Bobbi Kristina face down and unresponsive in a bathtub. She died after spending an extended time in a coma. An autopsy showed she had morphine, cocaine, alcohol, and prescription drugs in her body. Bobbi Kristina’s family blamed Gordon for her untimely death. They accused him of giving her a toxic cocktail prior to placing Bobbi Kristina face down in the water. Nick Gordon was never criminally charged, but he was found responsible in a wrongful death lawsuit in 2016. He was ordered to pay $36 million to her estate.
Since Bobbi Kristina’s death, Gordon continued to battle addiction. For his remaining years, he faced the battle of trying to reach the level of sobriety.ÃÂ On New Year’s Day, Gordon suffered a number of heart attacks. He was rushed to the Altamonte Springs Hospital. He died a short time later. Gordon was 30 years old.
