Boyd Cru Wines Launches in DC Targets

Boyd Cru Wines hosted a small celebration a few weekends ago to announce their launch in Target in the DC area. The event took place at the Dance Institute of Washington and was filled with supporters of the Black-owned winery.

In case you did not know, a winery is where the wine is actually made, and Jon’ll and Matthew Boyd are the first Black people and couple to own one in the state of Maryland. Founded in April 2023, Boyd Cru Wines has taken off quickly and proudly boasts three flavors: Living Legacy Red Wine Blend, Community Vidal Blanc, and Free Spirited Rosé.

After a performance by online violin sensation Jen Violen, the Boyd’s publicist, Ashley Jonhson, gave away door prizes. Then Jon’ll, Matthew, and their sons took the stage, to say a few words and thank their community for supporting the brand.

Jon’ll shared how Boyd Cru Wines was a 12-year-old idea before it launched and how they knew events were the best way to get their message out. The company’s next goal is to open a tasting room to serve their community better, so they will start crowdfunding soon.

Don’t forget, if you are in the DC area, you can make your purchase at your local Target.
