The BWLI Power Con & Awards 2024 is a three-day celebration dedicated to honoring and uplifting Black excellence, creating a transformative weekend where Black women come together to connect, empower, and celebrate. Hosted by Black Women of Long Island (BWLI), this annual event invites hundreds of influential leaders, professionals, and entrepreneurs to celebrate Black women’s profound contributions to business, media, and community.

Taking place November 15-17, the BWLI Power Con & Awards will be a multi-venue event across Long Island, kicking off with a Friday night mixer at Prime on the Mile in Freeport. The conference will then bring a full day of powerhouse discussions, workshops, and a “Buy Black” marketplace on Saturday at Hofstra University. The weekend concludes with an inspiring awards brunch on Sunday at Bayview on the Water, where 30 remarkable women, including award-winning journalist Nicole Johnson, will be recognized for their leadership and impact.

The Purpose Behind BWLI Power Con & Awards

BWLI’s mission is clear: to empower, celebrate, and elevate Black women. Founder Judith Jacques has crafted a platform that highlights accomplishments and fosters an inclusive environment for Black women leaders to share knowledge, collaborate, and inspire future generations. “As Black women, we are the backbone of our communities and industries, yet our contributions are often overlooked. This event is more than a celebration; it’s a movement,” Jacques shares.

The BWLI Power Con & Awards seeks to redefine visibility and representation, focusing on topics that matter most to the Black community—from entrepreneurship and wealth-building to mental health and personal development.
