It’s been an interesting year and as more in-person events happen, that means we’re exposed to more eye-popping celebrity fashion. Here are some celebrities who showed up and showed out, you might even say they sleighed.
First, is the girl that would supposedly never work with a high fashion brand because she was “too hood.” Cardi B had a hell of a year when it came to fashion. Some of her most iconic looks came from Paris Fashion Week. Cardi gave us Mugler Mami in a red, feathered dress, and later got dolled up in a black leather Mugler corset.
Cardi also gave us an off-the-wall Schiaparelli look, a coat that had golden nipple patches, with a golden mask/headpiece. Cardi went hardcore on us with a spiked and studded Balenciaga look, complete with hat, glasses, and spiked trench coat.
Cardi THEN gave us back-to-back Richard Quinn catsuits. One green was a bonnet, which sparked memes. While it was giving us Jack and the beanstalk, Cardi still slayed with her green frilled bonnet. She brought out the lavender catsuit sans bonnet and traded it for a purple headband.
Next, our king of Latin Trap, Bad Bunny served us lewks this year. Bad Bunny has never been afraid to push boundaries and his 2021 Grammy look is no different. Bad Bunny donned a hat with rabbit ears, of course, and an all-black outfit including a skirt. Bad Bunny has consistently gone against the toxic masculinity that still has a very strong presence in the Latino community.
But he seems to be unbothered and continues to express himself in any way he sees fit. Whether that be wearing a skirt, dressing in drag or wearing stiletto nails.
Bad Bunny also gave us some unique looks with his spread in “Allure” magazine. You can find him on the cover with a blue velvet durag and with dominoes glued to his nails and rhinestone tears. Some of his other looks include a leather skirt, pearls glued to his face, and a hot pink jacket, with matching hot pink gloves and turtle neck and hot pink hair extension to match.
Bad Bunny just continues to add to his list of iconic looks, undoubtedly 2022 will be packed with more.
Zendaya. Graceful, model-esque and bringing us everything we want to at the Spider-Man premiere. Zendaya has given us looks before, think back to her Met Gala ensembles, but her Spider-Man looks weren’t only stunning but very on-brand with the movies.
One look was a black Roberto Cavalli dress with a metal spine on the back meant to resemble Doc Ock’s. The internet raved about this dress and it made perfect sense to wear to this screening. Zendaya stunned at a different Spider-Man screening with a custom Valentino dress covered in intricate spider webs and butt-length braids. Our knees were shaking at the sight of her. Who else is doing it like Zendaya? No one, that’s who.
Mother Monster, Lady Gaga, did not come to play this year. A few of her looks include a pastel yellow maxi dress out in New York City, a vintage pinstripe suit from Jean Paul Gaultier, a black ribbed dress complete with feathers and pleasers. While these were all stunning, the House of Gucci press tour outfits truly stole the show.
Her sequin, Valentino gown was worthy of a goddess. The gown and train were not too over the top but still over the top enough for Gaga. Her custom Giorgio Armani Privé with a velvet halter was to die for. This look was very classy and the form-fitting dress gave Gaga the body-ody-ody.
For the UK Premiere of the film, Gaga wowed us with a purple dress from Gucci Love Parade with fishnet stockings and pleasers, paired with Tiffany Jewelry. Those are just a few of Gaga’s looks that caught our eye this year, there is a laundry list of others.
