CEO Chatter: Loom is the Video Messaging App You Need to Better Communicate

If you are not using Loom, what are you doing? Every small business owner should have a Loom account. Why, you may ask? Because one of the many hats we wear as business owners is technical support.

This means when something is not working correctly or as it should be, you are the one who has to spend time, if not hours, online chatting with tech support. If the service provider’s chat does not have the option to send uploads like screenshots, it can be even more frustrating. However, what is worse, is if they do not offer live support. This is where the value of Loom comes in.

What is Loom?

Loom is a video messaging tool that helps you get your message across through instantly shareable videos.

Why Does It Matter?

So now, when you are going back and forth with tech support, trying to solve your problem as best as you can, you can simply record a Loom, copy the share link, and then send it in the chat or in the worst-case scenario, send it in your inquiry email.

Believe me, it makes life so much easier!

I use it when I am having problems with my website. Last week I had a problem uninstalling a chat plugin I had added on WordPress, so I reached out to the developers of the plugin. After a few minutes of trying to explain what the issue was, it occurred to me that I could simply send a Loom so the agent could see for themselves what the problem was. It got my point across; she even thanked me for sending the video.

Unfortunately, the next day, I realized that our post scheduling software still was not publishing our posts on Instagram for some unknown reason. I had reached out to them earlier in the week trying to explain, and they told me it was a bug and to give it a few days. However, the problem was not resolved in a few days, so there I was again trying to troubleshoot. This time, I instantly remembered my secret weapon, recorded a Loom, and sent it right over. We resolved the issue in much less time than I had spent with tech support the night before.

Those are the two biggest advantages of Loom. It allows others to see what we are seeing on our end, and it saves time, something we often do not have as small business owners.

You can also see when someone watches your video in case you are dealing with a service provider that only responds to tech support emails.

If you are ready to eliminate the stress of communicating your problem with tech support with companies, I suggest you get a Loom account. You can sign up here with my referral link, and here are their pricing plans.

Here is a Loom I recorded to paint a visual for an advertising lead.

Stay tuned to CEO Chatter for more ways I use Loom. I have several. 😉
