With wit, warmth, and respect, Chantel reflects on the values and irreplaceable memories that define her relationship with the most important man in her life. Their bond is a powerful reminder that behind every trailblazing woman is often a father who believed in her first.

Chantel Richardson and Charlton Richardson

Please tell us about yourself.

Chantel: My name is Chantel Richardson. I am a 29-year-old entrepreneur who has a background in communications, broadcasting, and marketing. I currently run a few businesses, my most notable being: The Chantizzy Podcast, TIZZYTLKS and NINETYDEGREE DIGITAL: a creative agency.

We’re excited to learn all about your Dad. Please tell us about him.

Chantel: My dad is an icon, haha! My dad, Charlton Richardson, born and raised in New York City, has been a driving force in everything I do. This includes pushing me to accomplish my dreams, and to slow down when life moves a bit too fast.

How would you describe your relationship with your Dad?

Chantel: Ever heard the saying…opposites attract? That’s literally me and my dad. I am the FIRE, and he is the ICE. Do with that information what you will, haha! No, but seriously. My dad is super important to me. Due to my dad’s involvement in my life, he has taught me why you should hold yourself to the highest standard and never be shortchanged. My dad is easily the most important man in my life. (Sorry to my grandpa, brother, and boyfriend haha!)

What do you love most about your father?

Chantel: I love that regardless of how hard life is, he doesn’t budge or showcase what he’s going through. What I mean by that is my dad can persevere through it all. His perseverance is uncanny, and I’m happy I’ve adopted that trait from him. I love that regardless of what it is he goes through, his love, motivation, and parenting never change.

What does being a Daddy’s Girl mean to you?

Chantel: To me, being a daddy’s girl means taking no B.S., and knowing that regardless of it all, you have the strength, knowledge, and charm of your father. It also means being a leader, never taking no for an answer, and standing strong like your father would. It also means being spoiled (or so I’ve heard!)

Can you share a favorite memory or moment with your Dad that you’ll never forget?

Chantel: My favorite memory of my dad is when he told me to chase my dreams. I had just graduated from college, was working retail, and I hated it. My dad was the one who encouraged me to stop chasing other people’s dreams and goals for myself and to chase my own. Five years later, Tizzytlks and NINETYDEGREEDIGITAL became my passions that I have been working on.

What is one core value or piece of advice your father gave you that still guides you today?

Chantel: Do not overexert yourself for anyone but yourself. Another one of my favorites is: (and this was specific to my dream chasing!) You always find an angle!

What would you like to say to your dad this Father’s Day?

Chantel: Daddy, I love you, and I am so thankful to have you in my life. If it weren’t for you, I honestly wouldn’t be where I am right now. I know we don’t have the typical, mushy type of relationship, but I am deeply blessed to have had you in my life for almost 30 years. I pray for 300+ more. I LOVE YOU CHIGGA/CHUCK/CHARLIE BROWN/CHARLIE/CHARLES, all those nicknames. (HAHA!)
