Columbus, OH activist Amber Evans’ body was found in the Scioto River over the weekend. Evans, 28, was last seen January 28, 2019 in Columbus, Ohio.
A search for Evans has been active since she went missing almost two months ago, but due to the weather conditions, even the canine units and divers were not able to locate her sooner.
The night she went missing, Evans’ car was found in the downtown area, and her phone was later found in another part of the Scioto Mile by the police.
Refinery29 reports that the journalism and library and information sciences major from Kent State University worked for the Juvenile Justice Coalition and has done activist work for the People’s Justice Project and March for Our Lives.
According to her mother, Tonya Fischer, Evans was battling a cold and had just broken up with her boyfriend. However, police say they have no record of domestic violence between the two.
The last text she sent to her mother read, ‘I love you and I am sorry.’
Evans’ body was discovered Saturday, but we hadn’t saw any details that say exactly how it was recovered or what they may suspect her cause of death to be.
We’re sending the family prayers of strength, justice, and peace.
