The evening of May 28th, 2021, had a particularly different flavor at The Spring Chateau in Spring, Texas, and that was due to in no small part the efforts of Dr. Verna Caddie. The founder & president of Devine Creations, a popular Christian Etiquette Program, watched as one fresh debutante after the other made their way across the Chateau’s parquet floor during the 12th Annual Devine Creations Debutante Ball, showcasing the immaculate skills they had acquired under Dr. Caddie’s tutelage.
Becoming a debutante that made her presentation at this year’s May 28th cotillion required dedication and determination. Each debutante had to go through classes in etiquette, vision board class, and classical dance. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s classes began online. The young ladies enrolled in the program spent their Sunday afternoons learning the appropriate skills they would have to master to be worthy of the debutante title. The program broke virtual walls with a ravishing mother and daughter tea party held in January. The mother and daughter duos shared a bonding experience eating cucumber sandwiches and scones, all while donning beautiful hats that could easily be fit for royal engagements.
After more than five months of preparation, it was evident during the debutante’s presentation to Houston society during the 12th Annual Devine Creations Debutante Ball that the young participants have blossomed into ladies who could navigate social interactions with poise, grace, and impeccable manners. In the framework of the event, as always, Dr. Verna Caddie honored leaders making a difference in the local community by giving them awards in recognition of their service, including the Man of Honor Award, Dr. Eve Wallace Humanitarian Award, The Purple Dress Award, and more.
“COVID-19 proved a challenge for everyone, but it didn’t stop the sheer power of will demonstrated by the young ladies in our program who worked tirelessly to become some of the most charming Houston debutantes,” said Dr. Verna Caddie. “Devine Creations will continue to empower young women to become the best versions of themselves and reminding them that there are plenty of opportunities they can pursue not because of who they are, but because of whose they are.”
