Does the Holiday Season Have You Going “Crazy”? Check Out These Self-Care Tips!

The holidays can be the most busiest and most exhausting time of the year. From family gatherings to buying gifts, not to mention the hustle and bustle that goes along with the season, it can be a little bit “crazy.” Well, for those crazy moments during this holiday Season, take care of yourself with these self-care tips from SwagHer Magazine!

Tip#1: Slow down! Even if you are going 100 miles per minute, working, taking care of the bills, decorating or cooking for the holidays, etc., take at least an hour for self-care. Be intentional with wanting to take care of your mind, body, and spirit! It will lessen your stress and frustration during this “high-speed” transitional time of year.

Tip#2: Create a Self Care “Space”! This space can be a personal drawer with items only for your use, a space in the bathroom, den, or bedroom. It can be created at whim with the use of comfy pillows, a warm cozy throw blanket, a matching bathrobe with slippers, your favorite mug or glass (with a drink of choice), candles and/or incense, and a basket of skincare items. The bottom line, it’s for you! The items should belong to you! The products should only be used by you! This is “your” time!

Tip#3: Don’t feel guilty! Last but not least, do not feel an ounce of guilt because you have decided to take care of yourself! So many times, we get caught up with doing for others that we totally neglect our own peace of mind, health, and needs! With the New Year approaching, make it a point to create and be faithful to a self-care regimen that you can stick with! After taking care of the world, what is left of you at the end of the day? People may see the spirit in you and say, “They can handle it!” and dump everything but the kitchen sink in your lap! When are you going to be selective with whom you help, share your power with, and rescue? Your physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and financial health is important! Your self-care time and space should be “yours”! You should drink what you want, eat what you like, and do what makes you feel good and back to life!

Remember this…

  • Meditation allows for mind cleansing and clarity
  • Prayer puts you on a higher plane spiritually
  • Listening to soothing sounds and music helps calm the soul
  • Baths and even steam showers help the body inside and out
  • Eating good food nourishes more than your body
  • Drinking plenty of water will benefit every part of you!
  • Aromatherapy is just that therapeutic!
  • And treating yourself from time to time is not a SIN!

Need I say more! Do this for you! Be kind to yourself this holiday season and go into the New Year renewed!
