The 5th Annual Pink Apple Gala & Awards took place on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at Roulette Intermedium in Brooklyn, NY, marking a powerful celebration of Black women changemakers. The evening was a beautiful reminder of the importance of unapologetically expressing ourselves, especially through fashion and supporting independent designers, particularly Black-owned brands.

The gala was a night of unforgettable style and self-expression, with attendees donning everything from sleek, tailored suits to elegant, flowing gowns that radiated confidence. Eyewear was the standout accessory of the evening, with bold, statement frames capturing everyone’s attention and adding a unique edge to the already dynamic looks.

Mashi Epting, a business owner and speaker, dazzled in a striking pink gown. At the same time, other attendees, including America’s Next Top Model alum Bianca Golden and myself, proudly wore designs from Black-owned brands Haus of Shea and Zyem NYC. For my look, I chose to wear a creation from my own label, inspired by the legendary music group “The Pointer Sisters.” The design allowed me to channel their iconic energy while remaining true to my personal style.

This year’s Pink Apple Gala was more than just a display of fashion; it was a testament to the power of self-expression and the critical role that independent and Black-owned designers play in shaping the world of style. It reminded us that glamour knows no bounds, and embracing our individuality is not only empowering but necessary in a world where our voices and creativity should shine unapologetically.
