This is for the almost 30 crew. Â We have come full circle between choosing the wrong friends and dealing with turbulence with our real friends.
Friendships like other relationships go through tests. Â The outcome of these tests help us shift people around in our lives. Â We realize some friends we have are only functional friends.
Functional mean we use them when we need them. Â You have the movie friend, the party friend, the workout friend, the travel friend, and the wisdom friend.
Each of these people are super important to your life and they are all needed. Â When you get older into adulthood we see the foolishness of our youthful minds, arguing over friendships and getting jealous when your friends find new friends, it’s all foolishness.
We are more than capable of having multiple relationships that fit multiple needs. Â As we get older we also have less free time and that is where many of our friendships had formed.
Many of us befriend coworkers simply because we now share the same daily schedule with these people.
So, a friendship is a relationship.  Relationships require sacrifice, participation, and nurturing for them to remain strong.  Being young adults, with the limited free time, and let’s not forget the trying to create a life you’re proud of  dilemma, we often forget to do the things to keep the friendship strong.
Maybe this is the reason successful people feel so lonely? Â I hate when people say “Oh they’re probably just busy”. Let’s face it, we are all busy at this point for the reasons I stated previously but is it ok to just assume your friends will wait around for you? Â I’d think not.
Many of us don’t realize how many blessings we have around us and it includes finding good friends to call your own. Â It is never something that should be taken for granted.
So what if you’re that friend who takes all your friends for granted?
You are lucky and you should not question it for a second that they are a much better person than you are. Â Your character is defined by the way you treat others despite the treatment you receive from them.
You don’t deserve their friendship. Â People don’t assume you can be greedy with things that can’t be consumed but that’s not the fact. Â Many are emotionally greedy.
It’s okay for that person to be there for you but when the shoes on the other foot you are no where to be found. It’s the worst kind of selfishness around.
So what if you’re the friend who has never taken a friend for granted?
It’s time to find new friends probably. Â We out grow people just as much as we outgrow past times. Â I used to love dancing in the rain when I was young. Â Me and my friends would just spin and spin until we were drenched. I don’t do that anymore.
I’m not friends with those friends anymore. Â It’s not a blame game either. Â As adults, we can’t just walk away it seems. Â Someone has to be the reason and someone has to be the victim. Â Sometimes, yet most times we don’t feel that way.
We grow up and we are able to make clearer decisions without all the explaining. Â We can simply say, NOTHING. If you do feel the need to provide an explanation it will be for your own clarity mainly. Â The friends, who let your friendship go, know exactly why you feel the way you do.
