From Teen Mom to Jamaican Phoenix

Michelle Scarlette

Michelle Scarlette is someone one could and probably will categorize as a genuine phoenix who has risen from ashes. Originally from Jamaica, she endured a childhood of severe poverty, emotional, mental, and psychological abuse, with neglect a constant reminder of the hopelessness she felt. After being subjected to all that negativity that would make a grown woman crumble, and has, Michelle fell into the arms of the only source of positivity she found outside of school.

Before Michelle knew what hit her, she was not only a daughter, stepdaughter, and sister, she also had a new role as an expectant teenage mother. This new title didn’t sit well with her parents, and she had to make very swift adjustments not only for herself, but also for her impending offspring.

Michelle had no choice but to grow up faster than she could have ever imagined. She also had to go through situations that even in her wildest dreams and nightmares did she think she could go through, let alone survive to tell the tale.

And tell the tale she did. Surprising even herself, Michelle penned and is a bona fide published author of the book, “In Search Of Self: A Message Of Hope”. For someone who is very private, she didn’t think she could let it all out there, but part of her “search of self” was using her writing as a form of catharsis. She also has included other ways, shapes, and forms.

Looking at her, one would think she’s always serious, hot-tempered, and even has a sour demeanor, but that is far from the truth. She has a sense of humor, a goofy side to rival a class clown.

One reason to check her book out? The feedback thus far speaks for itself in six words: Easy to read and a blessing. Think of it as a blessing in a blessing from a blessing.

When asked what motivates her, she replies children, part in parcel because of her story. She also encourages young queens to accept who they are and find a support system, wherever they find that positivity and great energy that speaks to their soul.

What’s her SwagHer? Not surprisingly after her story, Black Girl Magic. Her hope is that her story will inspire as many as possible to wake up the Queen and King in yourself, and reach for your highest potential and vibrations.
