From Tragedy To Triumph, See How This Entrepreneur & Author Went From Near Death To Success

Tashell Williams wears many hats, but most importantly, she is a woman of God, a proud wife, and a mother of four beautiful children. Tashell nearly lost her life when she had her lung removed in 2000. Who would have known that through that tragedy, she would find her purpose in helping women be the best version of themselves through beauty and wellness?

Not only does Tashell survive with one lung, but she also THRIVES as a 20+ year Licensed Hair Expert, Owner of Euphoric Essence Hair Salon (four-time award-winning salon), and Cadence Taylor Organic Beauty Products, Cert. Wellness Coach, Educator, Consultant, and Author. She is extremely passionate about helping women reach their hair goals through her classes, consultations, and custom hair regimens. She also helps women live healthier by providing wellness solutions and showing them how to remove harmful chemicals from their personal care, hair, and home products.

She believes that everyone has a story that needs to be shared to heal, connect, help others and give God glory, so she wrote her book “One Lung to Live.” It’s about how a tragedy produces inspiration and life lessons that will help you become the best version of yourself. Her mantra is “Tell Your Story, it Changes Lives,” and she encourages others to do the same! Tashell is the epitome of “Where Wellness Meets Beauty!”

Christina: What is your SwagHer? What makes Tashell, Tashell?

Tashell: In addition to my extreme love for music, dancing, family, big hair, and earrings, my ultimate SwagHer is a survivor that has had the ultimate touch of God’s miraculous healing. What makes me is my confidence in who I am and Jesus Christ, my faith in God, my purpose-driven lifestyle, my ability to see the positive in every situation, my authenticity, how I glorify God through my life, and my passion for helping others through giving, serving and inspiring. I always have a story to tell to connect with others and help them through adversity. I am a great listener and have been told I give the best advice!

Christina: What inspired you to become a hairstylist?

Tashell: I suffered from low self-esteem when I was a little girl. I didn’t think I was pretty, and I was often sad. When my momma would take me to the hair salon, my frown turned into a smile. I came alive there and watched other women have this same experience. I thought the idea of being in such a fun ambiance filled with music, laughter, different kinds of women, food, and pretty hairstyles was a dream career. I desired to have the power to make women happy and confident, starting with a great hairstyle.

Christina: You had your lung removed in 2000. I’m sure that was such a hard time for you and your family. How did you get through that time?

Tashell: Yes, it was a very challenging time for me and my family. At only 22 years old, I was on life support for 1.5 months and coded two times during my recovery. My family didn’t know if I was going to live or die. My family came together, prayed, and had lots of faith that God would heal me. My relationship with God and his miraculous healing power is what got me through that difficult time.

Christina: Can you tell us about your book, “One Lung to Live”? Where can readers go to purchase?

Tashell: “One Lung to Live” will show you how an unexpected tragedy can turn into a reflection of God’s healing power and give your life new meaning. I am a one-lung survivor, and I share my story of a near-death experience at the early age of 22. My treacherous journey of healing and recovery challenged me spiritually, physically, and mentally almost to the point of no return. After going through the fight of my life, I came out as a survivor with a testimony. In my book, I share lessons learned from overcoming my battle to enhance your survival guide of life. My impactful and inspiring story will change your perspective on life and lead you to be a better and happier version of yourself. You can purchase it on Amazon.com or www.tashellwilliams.com if you want an autographed copy.

Christina: Define wellness in your own words.

Tashell: Wellness is the balance of spiritual, mental, physical, emotional, environmental, financial, and occupational health through beliefs, practices, and routines. Wellness is the path to ensure your cup is full to survive the bumps and unexpected challenges along your journey so you won’t end up empty. It’s what makes you thrive and not just survive in life.

Christina: What three tips can you give women struggling to incorporate wellness into their routines?

Tashell:

  • Pray and ask God to help you along your wellness journey.
  • Believe that wellness is important so that you will prioritize it. Health is truly wealth.
  • Create a plan and incorporate one wellness practice at a time to avoid overwhelm. You will stick with the plan if you make simple changes. I suggest you start with deep breathing practices because it decreases stress.

Christina: Is there anything else you would like to share?

Tashell: Give yourself and others grace and mercy. Life is not easy for any of us. Make love your message and your language. Remember to tell your story to connect with others and give God glory for overcoming your struggles, it is what we were created to do.
