Inside The Childcare Cartel: Black Women Redefining Reality TV and Building Empires in Atlanta

Childcare Cartel: Keisha "Starr" Archer, Sydney Jordan, Sherri J. White, Martika Burke, and Janaya Burke

Let’s be honest. Reality TV has shown us housewives, hustlers, and the highs and lows of high society. But it has never taken us into the trenches of the childcare world like this.

This past week, SwagHer Magazine had the exclusive privilege of attending the private screening of The Childcare Cartel in Atlanta. And trust this is not your average story about nap mats and snack time. This is about Black women in business mode, moving strollers and six-figure strategies at the same time. No wine throwing. No scripted drama. Just real stakes, real receipts, and real women running empires in one of Atlanta’s most underestimated industries.

From the moment we arrived, the tone was clear. Elevated. Intentional. Black woman-led. Guests stepped onto a pastel-toned carpet framed in soft florals and warm lighting. Chef Tanya Chavis of Pretti Plates delivered a stunning brunch experience with southern flavor and upscale charm. Pastel cocktails flowed, networking buzzed, and the energy was nothing short of luxury with purpose.

The evening began with a powerful panel featuring the cast. They tackled everything from toxic stigma and emotional burnout to the realities of state licensing and maintaining community trust. It was raw and transparent, the kind of dialogue that puts respect on a profession too often overlooked. And the children were never an afterthought. “They spend more time with us than they do with their parents,” Sherri J. White reminded the audience. That truth sits at the heart of this movement.

Now let’s talk about the show. The Childcare Cartel is a bold, refreshing, and unapologetic look into the real business of early childhood education.

At the center of it all is Sherri J. White, a woman who didn’t just beat the odds, she redefined them. A teen mom at 14. A business owner by 23. Today, she runs three successful childcare centers and serves as creator, executive producer, and star of the series. She didn’t wait for approval from a network. She built it herself, funded it herself, and told the story the industry never sees on camera.

“This is not a soft life. It’s not cuddly. It’s not cute. This is real business,” Sherri declared during the panel. And she meant it.

The cast brings their own heat.

Sydney Jordan walks in with high-end clientele and a sharp tongue. Bold. Stylish. Fearless. She is the flame that lights up every room.

Keisha Starr Archer is an entrepreneur in transition, having once been an exotic dancer, now transforming narratives in real estate and childcare with grace and grit.

Janaya Burke, Sherri’s daughter, is the quiet strategist. Often underestimated. Always prepared. She represents generational legacy in action.

And then came one of the most touching moments of the night.

Seventeen-year-old entrepreneur Yanoviah Murphy, who runs a full-service nanny agency entirely staffed by teenagers, “Care Crew Team”, waited patiently alongside her mother to meet Sherri. When the two finally spoke, Sherri leaned in, listened, and made space. Not only did she uplift Yanoviah’s journey, but she also offered to meet with her to help nurture the vision personally. It was more than mentorship; it was a moment of real legacy-building, showing the heart behind the hustle.

What The Childcare Cartel does so brilliantly is shift the gaze. It reminds us that Black women in childcare deserve to be seen. Deserve abundance. Deserve luxury. And they don’t need to throw a glass of champagne to prove it. They are the empire. And they are just getting started.
