Christina: What is your Swagger? What makes LeCurtis, LeCurtis?Â
LeCurtis: Being confident is who I am. Having class and being genuinely who I’m supposed to be, which is myself, not anyone else.
Christina: Why did you decide that Christian music was the genre you wanted to pursue?Â
LeCurtis: After giving my life to God is when I started my pursuit. I desired to bring a different recipe to the table from a different worldview.
Christina: Who are some of your biggest inspirations in the music industry?Â
LeCurtis: Lyric wise, it would be Nas, Kanye West, and so many others. I could go on for days.
Christina: In your bio, it states that your ministry statement is a series of musts. Please tell our readers about each statement and what they mean to you.Â
LeCurtis: Being an inspiration may cause people to admire you, desire to know more about you, give you a level of respect, maybe even follow because you are working for the greater good. When people are loved unconditionally, it gives them a sense of hope and another chance at life despite imperfection. God has a heart for people; he wants the best for them. He wants to be a present help in time of need. People on the brink of suicide, been through rape and molestation, lost their home, can’t find a job, homeless, or lost a loved one. He understands. I also understand and lending a hand in these types of situations is a sign telling people about God. Some see God more in action than just words.
Christina: What did you want to be when you grew up? Have you always wanted to be a rapper?
LeCurtis: I wanted to be an FBI agent and have lots of money. Funny you asked about being a rapper. No, I didn’t, but I started rapping at the age of seven with my uncle.
Christina: You received four nominations for the Voice of Gospel Music Award and won an award for Youth Artist of The Year. That’s a pretty big accomplishment. What would you say to your younger self now knowing all that you have and will accomplish?Â
LeCurtis: Sacrifice, stay focused, and be teachable.Â
Christina: Name three things that motivate you.
Christina: What is one of the biggest challenges you’ve had to face trying to breakthrough in the entertainment industry?
LeCurtis: People trying to take advantage and people not coming through as promised.
Christina: What does success mean to you?
LeCurtis: Success to me is walking in your purpose, fulfilling the vision, and responding to the call you are supposed to answer to.
Christina: Do you have any upcoming events or projects that you would like to share with our readers?Â
LeCurtis: I have a new album coming in 2021 and a Love Thy Neighbor concert on October 24, 2020, in Mobile, AL.
Christina: Is there anything else that you would like to share?Â
LeCurtis: Never guilt people into supporting you, be genuine with who you are, and the support will follow. #taylormadeconvos
