The Queen For a Day Conference is an annual event for young women ages 13-21 that reside within the state of Mississippi. It is a one-day empowerment conference, filled with knowledge, networking opportunities and of course, fun.
This year’s event is to be bigger. “We look for host over 200 girls at this amazing event this year. Last year we hosted 100 girls and look to continuously expand each year,†says organization’s founder, Kristy Johnson. Johnson went on to say, “We’ve added more areas including a space for young women to learn about writing their own policies and a self esteem boost.

Techpreneur and University of Southern Mississippi alum, Sheena Allen will lead an iTalk Technology session. Allen travels the country to promote financial literacy with her company CapWay. The host for this occasion is Mrs. LeCourtney Harness, an actress and local virtual talk show host of her own weekly show, “Live with LeCourtney Harnessâ€. Also taking place is “The Real Talk†panel discussion on topics including dating, suicide, bullying and other familiar topics within our community.
The conference offers great opportunities for our young attendees which includes receiving full sized products from Curls Natural Hair company, SwagHer Magazine covering the media for this occasion, door prizes and meeting local, state and national queens from different pageant systems including Miss Exquisite, Miss Black USA and Miss Black US Ambassador. The morning keynote speaker is newly appointed Miss Black Mississippi USA, Ashley Griffin.
Kommunity Builders began in 2014 as a group of young women who wanted to serve our community.
“There’s a plethora of surprises that we have not released into the public as of yet, but we are so excited with the many opportunities we are blessed to have for these young women who will be attending,†Johnson says.
