Jacqueline Snell is turning community care into action through Jazzy Jam for Empowerment™, a nonprofit making a measurable impact in Pasadena. With a record-breaking prom giveaway serving over 1,000 families, the organization is creating access to essential resources while supporting youth and families during one of the most meaningful moments of the year.
This year, that mission came to life in a major way with the Fifth Annual Jazzy Jam Glam Prom Dress and Suit Giveaway in Pasadena which is an event that exceeded expectations. What started as a two-day experience quickly turned into something much bigger. This year’s sponsors included Costume Designers Guild, LuLu’s, California Community Foundation, and Nordstrom.
With an overwhelming response from students, families, and donors, the initiative expanded into a multi-day activation, complete with an encore event to ensure no student was left out. In total, the giveaway served over 1,000 families, transforming The Paseo into a full prom shopping experience, free of charge.

This wasn’t just about clothes. This was about confidence. About belonging. About making sure high school seniors could step into one of the most memorable nights of their lives feeling seen, prepared, and celebrated.
“This initiative is about more than just providing attire; it’s about creating a space of encouragement, healing, and community,” Snell shared.
That intention is woven into everything she does. With over 18 years of experience as a mental health and community wellness professional, Jacqueline’s impact stretches far beyond a single event. Through Jazzy Jam for Empowerment, she has supported more than 1,200 families across Altadena, Pasadena, and the greater Los Angeles area by creating programs that center emotional wellness just as much as practical support.

At the prom giveaway, that commitment showed up through the WaterCoolerRoom. A dedicated space designed for emotional check-ins, peer connection, and real conversations. It’s a reflection of Jacqueline’s deeper understanding: community support isn’t just about resources, it’s about how people feel while receiving them. That same mindset guided her leadership following the Eaton Fires in 2020, where she launched initiatives focused on healing, rebuilding, and helping families navigate life after crisis. Her work continues to bridge gaps between systems, schools, and neighborhoods. Making support feel accessible, human, and real.
The success of this year’s prom giveaway also speaks to the power of collaboration. With support from partners like Soul2Soul Solutions and community leaders including Councilmember Tyron Hampton, Jazzy Jam for Empowerment created an experience that met both the emotional and financial realities families are facing today.

Prom has become expensive and for many families, costs can climb close to $1,000. What Jazzy Jam is doing is removing that barrier and replacing it with opportunity. This matters to the student who wasn’t sure they’d be able to attend. It matters to the parent trying to make ends meet. It matters to a community that continues to show up for one another in meaningful ways.
Jacqueline Snell isn’t just organizing events, she’s creating spaces where people feel supported, valued, and included. In a time where that kind of intention makes all the difference, Jazzy Jam for Empowerment is doing exactly what its name promises which is bringing empowerment to life, one experience at a time.
