Joe Biden is the President-Elect, The Work Has Just Begun

As we opened our eyes this morning, people around the world felt a sense of renewed hope. The anxiety of the week has slowed to a halt as the news of the presidency trickles in. This tight presidential race is just another huge moment in history that we’re living through.

While roughly half of America voted for Donald Trump to be re-elected despite not keeping any of his campaign promises, frustrated Americans everywhere voted for a change.

President-elect Joe Biden has gotten more votes than anyone in history, overtaking President Obama who held the record previously. This says a lot. This man received more votes than the first black president ever. So, while the uneducated, white male, who is one of Trump’s main demographics, read more on that here, was fed up enough to vote in a misogynistic, predatory racist, everyone else was clearly more fed up.

Considering Joe Biden winning enough electoral votes to snatch this presidency right from under Donald Trump’s feet, be aware that there is still a lot of work to be done. POC are still in danger, women are still in danger, the working class is still in danger.

While people across the board are celebrating as they should, we’re freeing ourselves from a very dangerous person, do not get so comfortable in this presidency that you forget to question it. Don’t fall prey to this like so many Trump supporters did. Don’t forget about the fact that we need to put our feet to the street and put in the work.
