Join Salesforce’s Make Change with Austin City Limits Fest for two special conversations on empowering and serving local communities through the challenges of covid. This series, hosted by Matthew McConaughey creates a space to celebrate doing good and community initiatives. These are causes Salesforce is committed to by actively giving a platform to those creating change.
How can technology and innovation inspire more people to challenge their perspective, join the conversation, and get involved locally and globally? How can it make us more effective in providing access and opportunities to students? In helping create a more equitable society?
The first session features Olympic athlete Raasin McIntosh and local entrepreneurs, Thurman and Torrence Thomas moderated by tennis legend Andy Roddick.
McIntosh is the founder of Raasin in the Sun, which enriches the community through urban beautification. McIntosh spoke of the organization’s recent work to uplift struggling artists by commissioning murals focused on mental health as well as their ongoing work combating environmental racism.
The Thomas brothers started Tankproof, an organization that gives underserved youth free swimming lessons. Most recently they’ve also been serving meals in communities hit hardest by Covid-19.Watch the whole discussion here, donate or get involved with the Roddick Foundation, Raasin in the Sun, and Tankproof.Â
The second session was moderated by Victor Sáenz, Professor at University of Texas at Austin and Chair of the Department of Educational Leadership & Policy. He sat down with College Forward’s CEO, Austin Buchan, and Carlos Uvilla Cruz, an alum of the program. Both guests shared their perspective on how College Forward continues to help over 15,000 underserved high school students reach their education goals. Education has been disproportionately affected by COVID-19 but leveraging Salesforce technology has made it more seamless.
