Mandatory Awareness: Dr. Monteic A. Sizer

Reverend Dr. Monteic A. Sizer is the founding President and CEO of the Judah Lion Group and Strategies International. Dr. Sizer agreed to serve as Executive Director of the Northeast Delta Human Services Authority, a twelve-parish regional behavioral health, addiction, prevention, and developmental disability agency. He chose to lead this organization so that his vast clinical and administrative skills could be used to help improve the lives and social systems found in Louisiana’s Delta.

Dr. Sizer used his leadership and administrative gifts while serving as the President and CEO of the Louisiana Family Recovery Corps, a long-term disaster recovery organization created by former Louisiana Governor Kathleen B. Blanco and the Louisiana Legislature after Hurricane Katrina. Dr. Sizer continued to serve Louisiana’s citizens through the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, Gustav, and Ike.

Dr. Sizer is a thoughtful leader, consultant, and nationally recognized keynote speaker. His driving passion is to help God’s people fulfill and live out purpose. Dr. Sizer’s authentic, passionate, and highly energetic messages have inspired, challenged, and moved to action audiences from across the country. Dr. Sizer’s firm belief is that God has given each of us gifts and talents to be used for God’s glory and the betterment of others.

Dr. Sizer encourages his audiences not to let birth status, poverty, race, limited education, societal ills, family challenges, and past personal failures cause them not to seek God and His purpose for their lives. It is within God’s purpose that one genuinely finds happiness, uncovers gifts, and achieves dreams.

Dr. Sizer’s experiences functioning as a clinical-community psychologist, serving poor and underserved populations in educational settings, community-based mental health centers, prisons, and forensic hospitals, has given him a profound knowledge of the poor. Some of Dr. Sizer’s academic research has examined the correlation between home, school, and community influences on academic achievement, crime, and community instability. Dr. Sizer also researched ethnic identity, the causes of African American homicide, and juvenile delinquency. He is also an expert in the fields of trauma and behavioral and primary healthcare integration.

Dr. Sizer earned a Ph.D. in Clinical-Community Psychology from the University of South Carolina. He completed his clinical residency at William S. Hall Psychiatric Institute. He holds Bachelor of Science (Summa Cum Laude) degrees in Psychology and Criminal Justice from Pfeiffer College, and an Associate degree in Applied Science from Central Piedmont Community College. Dr. Sizer is also a  Leadership and Political Fellow.

Christina: What is your Swagger? What makes Monteic, Monteic?

Monteic: I am what you see, what you get, man. I believe in truth and authenticity. I do not follow crowds or trends, nor do I seek them. I do what I am called and led to do. I desire to serve God and positively impact the world for God’s glory.

Christina: Why did you start Judah Lion Group and Strategies International?

Monteic: I am these entities. These entities are me. It was purposed that I establish them because it is whom I am and further becoming. And since I did not create myself, I am merely carrying out God’s plans for me.

Christina: Define purpose in your own words. Do you think you have fulfilled yours?

Monteic: Purpose in being aligned and doing the will of God. Doing God’s will is why He created us. There is no real peace or personal fulfillment outside the will of God. Look at our world. The world is full of social problems, materialism, false doctrine, and superficiality, to only name a few things humanity fosters due to being outside of God’s will.

Relative to having fulfilled my purpose, no, not entirely. I am in the process of being and becoming my purpose. Fulfilling purpose is a process, and God is the only one who can truly determine what the process will be and if we have obtained it. Being obedient to God’s will is the key to purpose and our destiny.

Christina: Why did you decide to go into ministry?

Monteic: I did not decide to go into ministry. Ministry was determined for me by God. God gives all of us a purpose or ministry based on the gifts and talents He bestows. God alone knows our ultimate purpose. God allows us to get a glimpse of our purpose and then requires our obedience to manifest it.

Christina: You have a Ph.D. in Clinical-Community Psychology. Why pursue this career?

Monteic: It was purposed that I pursue it. The issues God wants me to tackle involves the things I experienced, witnessed, read, treated, written about, and spoken. Remember, God processes us in our areas of gifting. Understanding people, systems, and public policies are areas I needed to master to positively make a difference in God’s people’s lives in these specific areas.

Christina: You have a book out, Kingdom Leadership: Leading God’s Way to Fulfil Purpose. Please tell our readers a little bit about the book. What inspired you to write this book?

Monteic: My new book is dedicated to those seeking purpose, meaning, and understanding of their leadership gifts. Unlike traditional leadership books, this book aims to connect leaders to God and His ultimate purpose. Nothing exists outside of God. All good things exist for God. God is the author of all creation and has purposed it so through His divine will and intent. It is the Kingdom Leader’s choice to reconnect with the source, which is God. Doing so allows the Kingdom Leader to find true meaning, life’s fulfillment, and predestined execution in the world.

As a student of leaders, and being a leader, God gave me the eight developmental phases of Kingdom Leadership as I was getting ready to go into the office one day. They came like a flash. God said to write the steps down in outline form and then go to His Word. Being obedient to God, I did as He commanded.

The other inspiration for this book came while witnessing the 2017 Global Leadership Summit. God began to reveal what He wanted me to write and share with the world about leadership and purpose.

Christina: In your opinion, what are five traits of a natural-born leader?

Monteic: I do not believe in the single concept of a natural-born leader. Leaders are born and shaped by their environments. Kingdom Leaders are born and made. Kingdom Leaders are who they were born and purposed by God to be from the beginning of time. kingdom leaders are made due to their conscious perception and free will interacting with God’s established principles and cycles while being in communion with God, the source from which all things emanate.

Any person has the potential to become a kingdom leader because God gave all-purpose. Every person born into the world is to execute assignments explicitly determined by God. The ability to perform one’s tasks entirely is predicated upon one’s relationship and obedience to God.

Christina: You have done a fair amount of academic research. Tell us, what was the most important thing you learned while researching crime and community instability?

Monteic: I learned that we need God and should not lean on our own understanding. When we rely on our own understanding, we get the world we have now. Humankind’s innate desire and quest in the earth realm is to search for meaning, which can only be found in God and through the work of God. In essence, humanity is seeking relationships, identity, and purpose. Thus, humankind is trying to resolve the questions of how I am to be reconciled with God, who I am concerning God, and why I am here.

An unrevealed purpose leads humanity to chase fleeting and temporal pleasures as a substitute for God’s intentions and revealed plans. No amount of worldly consumption and praise can give peace or eradicate humankind’s innate drive towards God, its creator.

The world is filled with brokenness and too many unrealized dreams. Nations are consumed with war and rumors of war. Too many individuals are burdened with excessive poverty and disease. Racial and ethnic conflicts polarize societies. Still, others are trapped by unconstrained moral conflicts, various forms of addiction, consumerism, power grabs, and religious strife. All of these things above are futile attempts at gaining a relationship, purpose, and meaning from life. They are a result of humanity, not knowing God and God’s purpose for their lives.

Christina: Do you have any upcoming events or projects that you would like to share?

Monteic: Yes. I am completing the companion piece to Kingdom Leadership: Leading God’s Way To Fulfill Purpose. The companion manuscript is entitled Kingdom Leadership: The Companion Workbook To Fulfilling Purpose. This companion workbook will take readers on an even deeper journey into themselves and the work God has assigned them to do. The other manuscript coming out soon is A Note To Leaders: Leadership Lessons From A Kingdom Leader.

Christina: Is there anything else you would like to say?

Monteic: Yes. Leaders have a tremendous responsibility as proposed by God. It is leaders who are uniquely equipped and positioned to help meet human needs.

Within my new book, Kingdom Leadership: Leading God’s Way To Fulfill Purpose, leaders will come to understand God’s purpose for their lives within the context of God’s principles and God’s people. Additionally, in my book, leaders will better understand the risks and challenges of leading in a modern world. Further, I explore topics related to kingdom leadership succession and kingdom leaders’ development for God’s continuous work in the earth realm.
