Christina: What is your Swagger? What makes Byron, Byron?

Byron: First, thank you so much for taking the time to interview me. I’m a lover of life and people. When I’m not writing, coaching, and speaking, I sit thinking of ways to help more people fall in love with themselves and others. It’s my purpose and my passion.

Christina: You have a new book out, “Successful Love: Navigating the 6 Phases of Love’s Journey”. Tell our readers about it.

Byron: Everyone wants love. “Successful Love” is my first of many books about finding that love at any phase of life. Whether you are single, married, or divorced, we all need help navigating our love journey to discover the best love and find the most fulfillment. This book is like my love Bible, helping anyone find, starting with the love they carry within themselves.

Christina: You went from being a pastor to an author and love coach. How did you even become a love coach?

Byron: I left pastoring because I felt it was too limiting. There were certain people I couldn’t help when they needed it most. To this day, I still believe all pastors are called to be love coaches, helping people find love inwardly (self-love), outwardly (relationships), and upwardly (God/Spirit). I take my personal experiences, my religious training, and my passion for seeing people find love and blend that into my own form of helping ordinary people find extraordinary love.

Christina: You are a suicide survivor and have accomplished some pretty great things. What advice would you give to someone reading this who is thinking about suicide?

Byron: Suicide is simply forfeiting the best love has in store for your life. I talk about us all being on a love journey for a reason. Some parts of our journeys are fun and exciting, and others are challenging. What allows you to enjoy every moment, even the difficult times, has nothing to do with what’s happening around you. It’s what’s happening within you. Peace, love, and joy can give you hope even in the darkest of times. And, these things will never fail you.

Christina: In your bio, it states that you went to an HBCU. I am also a proud HBCU graduate. Would you encourage others to attend an HBCU, and why or why not?

Byron: I am glad to be talking to a fellow HBCU graduate. I loved my HBCU experience. Norfolk State University is where I learned to love who I was, as I was. It taught me to hold to a personal standard that I could honor and gain the respect of others. HBCU’s are like learning from family. They give you a sense of pride that is necessary when you leave that safe space.

Christina: Since you are an exceptional love coach. Can you give our readers some advice when looking for love? What are the three things they should aim for in a partner?

Byron: I’d love to.

Number one: Find someone who loves themselves. People who love themselves have budgets, set plans, and care about other people because, without self-love, you can’t truly love.

Number two: Find someone who respects your time. It’s the one commodity you can’t get back. When someone honors your time, they honor your future.

Number three: Find someone who has people who love them. Love much be practiced, so it’s much easier to date people who have love flowing in their lives. Whether it’s their friends, family, or close co-workers, find out if they have healthy relationships around them. And, be cautious of anyone who talks more about problematic people than the people they love.

Christina: Do you still preach? If not, why did you stop?

Byron: I still preach, just not in as many pulpits. I find my joy, like Jesus, teaching outside of religious circles about the power of love and healthy relationships. Love is not confined to a building or service, so I don’t like to be either.

Christina: Give us the details, love coach. Have you found love?

Byron: I know your question is centered on finding love (a person who I share love with), and I have. But more importantly than even that, I have found love all around me. I find love in the simplest things, reminding me daily that love comes in all forms and expressions. Why is this important? It helps me not use my relationship to fill some love void. Because we are both full of love, we can share it equally.

Christina: What would you tell your younger self, now that you are an accomplished author and love coach?

Byron: Rush to find love within, before you rush into a relationship.

Christina: Do you have any upcoming events or projects?

Byron: There are two things everyone in the world wants: love and success. So, I started Mogul in the Making, a new community for entrepreneurs (emerging moguls) at all levels of success to foster relationships, gain insight, and share experiences to help each other reach their goals. We have our first open Mastermind on August 19th at 7 pm. Find out more at byronjamal.com.

Christina: Is there anything else you would like to share?

Byron: I have helped hundreds of people find love, and am creating more ways to touch even more lives. For private love, coaching or love-tools, reach out to me at ByronJamal.com. I want to help you find extraordinary love.
