Meet HerConclave Organizer, Deirdre Sanderlin

 Deirdre W. Sanderlin is the C.E.O. of PLan-D Global Events and Consulting, “The Wonder Woman Emissary,” where women are transformed by way of her unique traveling women’s center. She is known as a master motivator and is noted for her creative and non-traditional strategies to provide relevant programming that addresses young girls’ and women’s many needs. Her commitment and passion for assisting women in reaching their full potential and personal platform is second to none, teaching women how to S.T.E.P. (Self-development, Transform, Embrace, and Prepare for the next level) in spite of is her heart’s desire. Sanderlin is a published author, mentor, a founding women’s center at Norfolk State University, director, and trainer. She holds two degrees and a few classes from her doctorate, but no credentials qualify her calling like this thing called “Life Experience.” She has worked for the last 20 years in Human Services. She is a born leader and is respected amongst her peers as a pioneer. She credits all of her bravery to God and to her tenacious mom, Rita J. Williams. She lives by an Audrey Hepburn quote: “Nothing is impossible. The word itself spells I’M POSSIBLE”.

 

Christina: What is your SwagHer? What makes Deirdre, Deirdre?

Deirdre: What makes me Deirdre is my non-traditional programming and creative way of introducing the necessity of self-development; Teaching women how to S.T.E.P. in spite of!

Christina: Please tell our readers more about S.T.E.P.? What does it mean, and why is it so important to you and your mission?

Deirdre: The acronym S.T.E.P. stands for Self-Develop, Transform, Embrace, and Prepare for the next level. One of the hardest things for most people to do is to transform; we get stuck. The word STEP is an action word that requires movement to be entirely true to its origin. Our mission is to ensure that we motivate women to move from one place to the next, even if it is a baby step- just move- the acronym gives a successful blueprint to do just that, S.T.E.P.

Christina: What inspired you to start PLan-D Global Events and Consulting?

Deirdre: I saw a need for women who didn’t necessarily fit in; not enough education or not enough religion- so where do the women in the middle fit in? They get left out of some of the most influential circles because they are thought to be NOT ENOUGH! PLan-D is a safe platform for women to grow, nurture, and S.T.E.P. 

Christina: Who or what motivates you?

Deirdre: My history motivates me; my infinite list of strong, resilient women in my bloodline that made it happen with NOTHING-and matriculated despite adversity! They modeled and molded a priceless act, SISTERHOOD!

Christina: What are some services that your business offers?

Deirdre: My business offers a long list of programming that serves the overall public health of women, i.e., training, conferences, workshops, and one-on-one mentoring.

Christina: You are known for your non-traditional strategies that help and address the needs of young women. What are a few of your non-traditional strategies that have been successful?

Deirdre: We have a long history of non-traditional programming that speaks to every woman. We meet women where they are-we all don’t get to the same place at the same time. Sometimes, we need the sisters to reach back or even come back to pick up a load to propel them forward. That would be PLan-D!

Christina: Define the word passion in your own words.

Deirdre: Passion is that “thing”- that thing that makes you studder, that thing that makes you smile, that thing that you do with days of no sleep.

Christina: I love the quote that you live by. “Nothing is impossible, the word itself spells I’m Possible”-Audrey Hepburn. Tell us, why is that quote so important to you?

Deirdre: I fell in love with this quote some years ago during a really tough season in my life. Then, when everything appeared to be in a permanent dark state- after reading and making it a daily declaration, things began to change for me- no matter how dim the light or dark your situation, your life can change instantly! You can do whatever you dreamed you could do. Darkness is not your home; it is just a pathway to the morning sunrise!

Christina: If you could go back in time and say something to your younger self, what would you say?

Deirdre: Fail FORWARD!! DON’T GET STUCK on the challenges that you have experienced. FOCUS on the fabulous future. Your adversity was only a training ground for your gifts to matriculate to full maturation.

Christina: Do you have any upcoming events or projects you would like our reader to know about?

Deirdre: On November 7th, Plan D will be presenting a Virtual Soiree, “Girl, I thought that I was about to lose my mind, but I didn’t,” giving stratHERgies that will help women win in every area of their lives-be it at home, health, wealth or self.

Christina: Is there anything else you would like to share?

Deirdre: Nothing is impossible the word itself spells I.M. Possible, and so are you!!
