She helps clients identify soul wounds and uses her clinical expertise and affirmation words as an ointment to heal soul infections. Clients often leave with their identities revived, futures reimagined, and confidence rekindled.

A native of Jacksonville, North Carolina, Ms. Foskey grew up as one of three children and spent her time learning to fully embrace the purpose-driven person her parents raised her to be! Having experienced divorce, the loss of her father and material possessions, Daniall knows firsthand the impact of trauma, which makes her qualified both professionally and personally, to connect with those who have found themselves struck out by life’s curveballs. She, herself, has taken those curve balls and knocked them out of the park to run back home to the base of her soul.

As a former Chesapeake Public Schools Guidance Counselor of 13 years, Ms. Foskey has witnessed the systemic effects of unresolved familial grief and trauma on students’ overall academic and psychosocial prowess. As a result of her experiences and observations in the school system, she sought to build her private practice. Daniall is now the co-owner of Psychological Associates of Greater Hampton Roads (PAGHR), a pillar in the Portsmouth, Va area, providing effective therapy for children, adolescents, individuals, couples, and groups.

She is also in the process of launching a series of SOUL-Workshops, entitled, Her EPISOULS, a series that is created to help women move past the episodic pain from their life and utilize all that they have to fuel purpose! She is a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan and a proud mom to Jaylen, who is completing his last semester at Virginia Tech, and Jai, a Freshman at North Carolina A&T.

Christina: What was the hardest thing you’ve ever had to go through in life? Did it end how you expected it to?

Daniall: Going through a tumultuous divorce at the same time, my father was dying from cancer. This “hardest” thing had a collateral damage effect on a series of other events, so I now look at it as the “hardest season” I’ve ever had to go through. It did not end as I expected it to, and although this was indeed my darkest hour, it was in the midst of my darkest hour that I found my shine.

Christina: Suppose you could go back to your younger self, in a season where you thought you had it all. What would you say to your younger self?

Daniall: I would tell myself to get quiet and learn to listen to God better. I would tell me not to ignore the nudges in my spirit to get my personal house in order, especially as it relates to finances and preparing for my future. I would say it’s ok to believe God for the best yet prepare and plan for the worse.

Christina: How meaningful are friendships to you? Do you value your friendships, your sisterhood, more than you value material possessions?

Daniall: I absolutely do. I’ve lost it all before. I lost my husband and relationships with both sides of his family that I was extremely close to. I lost two vehicles that were paid for and couldn’t afford to get them repaired. My home foreclosed a week after my eldest son graduated from high school, and we moved from a 3,000 sq ft home into a tiny two-bedroom apartment. Before the move, my son totaled my new car I’d purchased two months prior, and a year after living in our apartment, my dog died of cancer. I had about five family and friends to die somewhere in between, but the timeline is all jumbled up in my mind, but my circle remains tight! In the midst of my loss, I discovered the true value that I had in my friends. They prayed for me. They paid me. They pampered me. They protected me. They prophesied to me, and most of all, they pushed me towards my purpose! At this time, I began to look not at my current circumstances but to fix my eyes on my inner circle’s stance. When your circle’s stance believes God’s promises for your life no matter what..that helps to propel you despite your circumstance!

Christina: How did you feel when you were named one of the “Three Best Rated Marriage Counselors”?

Daniall: I was and still am humbled that my divorce did not forfeit me from being used by God to help keep couples together.

Christina: How rewarding is your career as a counselor?

Daniall: I was a school counselor for over a decade and decided to use my license to practice therapy because I needed more income to make ends meet. So, I started my practice on the side, and soon my part-time position was more lucrative than my full-time position, so I quit my job and began doing therapy full time. The reward I get from walking people towards healing is unexplainable. I am in awe of God for trusting me with the hearts of so many people. I honestly never feel adequate to help some of the people He sends to me but, I have learned to fully embrace the idea that God does not call the equipped, but he does equip the call! My career is so rewarding because I get paid for what I would honestly do for free.
