April B: How Would You Describe Your SwagHer? What makes Kimberly, Kimberly?

Kimberly: I enjoy my unique individuality, as it allows me to encourage black women to embrace the greatness of who they are.

April B: How did you get started as an entrepreneur and what steps did you take to get where you are today?

Kimberly: I created I Hear That Girl due to mass media’s lack of positive representation of black womanhood.  I decided in 2007 to make a difference that would allow me to do my part to change the narrative about women.

April B: Has your journey been an easy road? What are some of the challenges you’ve overcome if any?

Kimberly: It definitely hasn’t been an easy road, but such is life.  It’s always difficult being a positive light in a world that feeds on drama and negativity.  Being visible through the noise is hard, but what I’ve learned is that a light, no matter how small, shines bright in the darkness.  You have to remember that you are making an impact… Period.

April B: Tell us about your business/brand. What do you specialize in, what are you known for and What sets you apart from others in your industry?

Kimberly: I Hear That Girl! has blossomed into a media lifestyle brand focused on Empowerment and Confidence of the Black Woman.  We provide this coverage through our lifestyle site focused on positive stories about Black Women, our Podcast, “The Dope Black Chick”, Events, and personal/professional development coaching.

April B: Why do you feel it is important for women to be confident.

Kimberly: It’s important for women to know the power that we hold.  The world has so many obstacles,  but you have to tap into that inner belief (confidence) to unveil your personal power and abilities to overcome them. A confident woman can accomplish anything she sets her mind to.
