In today’s dynamic world, women are standing shoulder to shoulder with men in every field. When it comes to business and entrepreneurship, many women have set a benchmark. Tere Tatiana is one prominent name who has been helping people on how to increase income during the COVID-19 pandemic and also is helping in maintaining the overall mental health of an individual. Born in Atlanta, GA, and raised in Statesboro, GA, she graduated from Claflin University Cumma Sum Laude with a degree in Public Relations. Since an early age, Tere had been an overly ambitious woman who learned how to balance life being a single mother after being deployed to Afghanistan in 2009.
During the same time, she got certified in connecting, splicing, and measuring fiber optical cable. Tere even received multiple accolades as an HR professional. It was by far the entrepreneur’s best decision, after which she dominated four of her businesses, namely Labeled Blu Collections, Labeled Blu Realty, Labeled Blu Transportation, and Southern Hospitality Adult Daycare Facility. Widely recognized as a serial womanpreneur, Tatiana is also a popular social media influencer. On her social media, she usually shows the different layers of her personality and reveals why she is one of the best serial entrepreneurs.
While speaking about how she remains unique with her content, Tere said, “I remain true and authentic with my content. I try to be as open with my followers as I can. They love that even more, and they find it even more relatable. In addition to that, I create informative content like business tips for budding entrepreneurs.” Not just this, Tere is also a multi-tasker who juggles between her life as a mother, a businesswoman, and an influencer.Â
Today Tere Tatiana is an affluent public figure, and many people find her unapproachable or intimidating, which is not the case. “I at times engage with my followers on Instagram DM, and many of my followers know that I am not a usual model but a woman who has built an empire with a vision,” she added. Giving a piece of advice to all the influencers, Tere stated that originality and authenticity are extremely important to be in the race for the long run. In the future, Tere Tatiana has a lot of exciting things coming up.Â
“I am currently revamping Labeled Blu Transportation and adding new trucking equipment and hiring new operators. With it, I will also relaunch Labeled Blue Collections – a clothing boutique catering towards the working women who are not afraid to embrace their femininity and sexuality”, quoted the entrepreneur. Additionally, Tere is promoting her upcoming virtual trucking class and women in business retreat for next month. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Tere’s focus has been educating young women on how to juggle business, personal life, and social media.
Christina: What is SwagHer? What makes Tere, Tere?Â
Tere: I believe I have a strong determination, my tenacity for being successful, and my standard of success. I think that I am a very optimistic person, approachable, very, very understanding, and compassionate person. I feel as though people appreciate that about and found me relatable. I am very, very goofy, and love to have laugh and fun, but at the same token, I understand the importance of being serious and handling business.Â
Christina: You have your own trucking company, Labeled Blu Transportation. Please tell our readers about it. Why did you decide to open up your own trucking business?
Tere: I actually got into logistics in 2009 during my deployment in Afghanistan as a government contractor. I started out as a warehouseman, so trucking kind of just came natural to me, especially since my family has been in the trucking industry before, almost two decades now. As I was making over six figures as a government contractor, my parents just motivated me to get my first truck, and initially, I wasn’t really into it. I was a girly girl, and it wasn’t popular for women, especially black women, to be trucking. I was a little apprehensive at first, but luckily I went ahead, especially the type of person I am, and decided to purchase my first truck. It was a horrible truck, a very old and cheap truck; I had many problems with it. Thinking back on it today, it molded me into becoming the trucking professional I am today. I am appreciative that I got into the industry because it has been very lucrative so far.Â
Christina: Not only do you have Labeled Blu Transportation, but you have three other businesses. Can you tell us a little more about your other businesses?Â
Tere: In addition to Labeled Blu Transportation, I also have Labeled Blu Reality, which is my realtor company where I do a lot of wholesale lease options, pretty much trying to help individuals with challenged credit get into their dream home or starter home. I also have Labeled Blu Collections, a women’s boutique targeted for women in business and bosses, but a little more carefree. I also have Southern Hospitality Adult Daycare Facility. It is pretty much an adult daycare where senior citizens and mentally challenged individuals can come during certain hours. We do certain activities with them like bingo, gardening, and even ride around on short trips so that they can have a sense of normalcy.
Christina: You were in HR before you became an entrepreneur. What made you decide to leave HR behind? Â
Tere: I’ve always had a strong sense of entrepreneurship, especially because my mom and father have been entrepreneurs. I’ve never seen anyone clock into a regular 9 to 5 my entire life. Luckily, opportunities just fell into my lap, where I was able to deploy into Afghanistan as a government contractor in the human resources department, so it just kind of came to me naturally, especially with my public relations background. I was conducting investigations, public speaking, being able to write cases, and reprimands. It kind of just came naturally to me. I wouldn’t say I just left HR, I just made a pit stop. Â
Christina: You are definitely a serial entrepreneur. Would you encourage others to get into entrepreneurship? If so, why?Â
Tere: I most definitely, 1000% recommend entrepreneurship to others, but only if they have that heart and mentality of having ownership. Not everyone does, which is perfectly fine because everyone’s position from the boss or the entrepreneur is down to the employees, so everyone plays a major factor in the business. Entrepreneurship is not for any and everyone, but those who have an express interest, I would recommend it or continue to be an employee and have your own business. I see the benefit and financial freedom that entrepreneurs have, so I will always recommend others to have that type of lifestyle, but it’s not for everyone, which is perfectly fine. Â
Christina: How has being a social media influencer changed your life and businesses?Â
Tere: Being a social media influencer has changed my life, but in certain aspects, it hasn’t because I am from not so much a small town, but it’s not an Atlanta or New York. I’ve always been a pretty- known person, even my family. There are several entrepreneurs in my family, so people around my town know us, especially for running different businesses like lawn care. I have pretty much been known my whole life, but regarding social media to reaching people outside my city has been a tremendous blessing. I didn’t realize people respected my opinion so much, especially when it comes to entrepreneurship or life in general, which is important to me. Being an influencer is such a powerful position, and I feel as though I have the maturity to guide my audience and followers in a positive direction while having fun.Â
Christina: Since this COVID-19 pandemic, how have you been able to keep all of your businesses up and running? Do you have any tips you would like to share with any fellow entrepreneur whose business has been affected by the pandemic?
Tere: Being able to adjust to the times. One minute we had COVID-19, then the next day, all hell broke loose. Everyone pretty much must adapt or change their way of thinking or even change business operations. A lot of entrepreneurs were not able to withstand the impact that COVID-19 had during this time. For the entrepreneurs who did survive, new entrepreneurs, or upcoming entrepreneurs, it is essential to remain fluid as well, be able to adjust or stay on a pivot. For instance, one day, you have a storefront, and the next day, the economy shuts down, and you are unable to go to work. You want to make sure you can keep your business going. You need to make sure you have things in place like an online store or online services that you can keep your business running during these times.Â
To remain consistent- I know that sounds cliché but remaining there for your customers is essential, especially during a time of uncertainty. Your fans, followers, customers rely on us for particular services or products, just remaining consistent, especially your loyal customers, is a very good way to grow or maintain your business, at least until you figure out other options to expand or grow your business.
Christina: So your business, Southern Hospitality Adult Daycare Facility. It’s not every day that someone decides to open up an adult daycare, so why did you?Â
Tere: It was a process, and it originally started out as a group home. Once we got into the business and started networking and building the infrastructure, that’s when we found other options. We also saw it was needed in our area. Now we are at the max of our employees for Medicare and Medicaid, which we are proud of.Â
Christina: Can you define success in your own words?Â
Tere: Success, to me, is personal. It is pretty much what you feel in your life, or you deem necessary as successful. For example, the monetary value might be successful rather than another person may say success for them is peace in their family and spirit. The definition of success to me is your individual perspective on how you view yourself and did you achieve your goals.Â
Christina: Do you have any upcoming events or projects that you would like to share?Â
Tere: Yes, I have so much in store. So excited about our upcoming projects. We have a Labeled Blu Transportation introduction course for those who want to get into the industry. I’ve received a lot of feedback. I have a documentary coming out about how to safely and properly get plastic surgery done because I plan on getting some work done soon. I also have the relaunch of Labeled Blu Collections. We are shooting a commercial for it soon and planning a women in business retreat that I want to do a girls weekend where we relax but take care of business.Â
Christina: Is there anything else you would like to share with our readers? Â
Tere: I want your readers to remain positive, define what they define as success, shoot for the stars, remain steadfast, and always make sure you stay swagged up!!Â
