Movie Review for TV One’s Film “Blood on Her Badge”

TV One’s new film “Blood on her Badge” is directed by Ken Michael and written by Scott Mullen. This film is inspired by crime events and  stars Rayven Symone Ferrell (Dee Johnson), Tequan Richmond(Trey), and Tetona Jackson (Gloria). This movie is about a young girl named Dee Johnson (Ferrell), who decides to become a cop. Dee also deals with domestic violence from her father (Miguel Nunez), calling her worthless and feeling unworthy. The darkness fills her pain as she starts cutting herself to feel at ease. Dee Johnson meets the hardcore Trey (Richmond), and everything turns around as she feels needed instead of trying to handle a void in her life. But is she trying to forget the pain of the past? Mental health plays a significant role in Dee’s horrible history with her father to her depression and anxiety. She wants to help others by taking on as a police officer, but she takes a different turn alongside her bad-boy, Trey, a criminal with a background and starts robbing and stealing money. Dee feels all the power wearing her badge and uniform as a police officer but was an undercover bad girl who would do just about anything for love and her man. Speaking of love, this film reminds me of the show “For My Man” because Dee is doing anything Trey puts in her head. Since he first got into the police car, it was a wrap, and the path of danger and crime revealed the ugliest monster.

She made a pact with Trey’s brother to not get him locked up, and Dee is willing to do anything and everything to made sure Trey is good and not on the other side of the track. Is Dee risking too much and putting her life on the line for a criminal who is only manipulating her because of love? How far will one go for a dangerous love? At the end of their final robbery, Dee’s other job as a security guard, they have no real plan to get the money. It was a disaster waiting to happen, and both Dee and Trey go to jail. Love and power will make you do some crazy things, and Dee found that out behind bars. Toxic relationships can be dangerous and can ruin a person mentally, physically and emotionally. “Blood on Her Badge” premiered on November 16, 2020.
