Fancy: Please tell us a little about your business, My Beautiful Fluff, and what inspired it.
Brittany: My Beautiful Fluff was born out of my personal journey as a plus-size woman who struggled with finding clothing that made me feel confident and beautiful. Growing up, I often felt marginalized by the fashion industry and society’s narrow beauty standards. I created My Beautiful Fluff to fill that gap—both for myself and for other women like me. My mission was to build a brand that not only offered stylish, body-positive apparel but also fostered a community where plus-size women could feel celebrated and empowered.
Fancy: How did you gain confidence about your weight?
Brittany: Navigating the journey to body confidence has been challenging, but it required me to stop listening to other people’s opinions about my hair, size, or anything else. It meant embracing my body as it is instead of focusing on what I thought it should be. I had to let go of the numbers on the scale and realize that I am more than just the pounds I carry. I started talking to myself like I would speak to a friend or someone I loved—with kindness and understanding. This is not a process with a clear end; I continuously work on it. There are days when I feel I’m making progress and others when it feels like I’m taking ten steps back. For instance, I love my plus-size body, but I sometimes struggle with accepting my body’s limitations due to my disability. It’s a constant struggle to embrace and love every part of me, but it’s a journey worth taking.
Fancy: What was life like before you gained this confidence?
Brittany: Before I found this confidence, I had gone through cycles of gaining and losing weight. When I lost a lot of weight, people suddenly saw me as beautiful, but I still hated myself. The years of being told, “You’re fat, lose weight,” left deep scars. Even when I achieved what others saw as success, it didn’t change how I felt about myself—it just changed how others perceived me.
Fancy: What has the response been like to My Beautiful Fluff?
Brittany: The response to My Beautiful Fluff has been incredibly heartwarming. Hearing women identify with and feel connected to characters that look like them is beyond rewarding. I’m forever grateful to everyone who supports my dreams and the fantastic products and pivots that have come along the way.
Fancy: So My Beautiful Fluff is releasing a new body-positive coloring book and a sequel you are working on for teens and tweens. Can you tell us more about that?
Brittany: While vending at Autism events, I spoke with a middle school counselor who mentioned the need for a coloring book for teens and tweens. That conversation sparked my idea—I wanted to create something that 12-year-old “little fluffy me” could have used. Kids today have to deal with social media constantly telling them what is beautiful, and I want to create something that lets little girls, as they grow into young women, know that they are perfect and beautiful just as they are.

Fancy: What do you find most rewarding about your work?
Brittany: The most rewarding part of building My Beautiful Fluff is the sense of community. Being able to give back to organizations that mean the most to me, connecting in person with people who support me online, and hearing how my products make a difference in their lives by empowering and encouraging them—those moments are priceless.
Fancy: What advice would you share with other plus-size women out there?
Brittany: The best advice I can give is to be mindful of who you keep in your circle. Love yourself, especially when it’s hard. Speak to yourself as if you were talking to a little girl who just told you she hated her body—be kind and gentle. Make sure to fill your own cup before pouring into others. Affirmations are powerful tools for building confidence, and finding your tribe, a space where you feel comfortable and beautiful, is essential. Spaces like the Super Size Your Life Expo can be incredibly affirming and empowering.
Fancy: As a disability-owned business, how does My Beautiful Fluff emphasize inclusivity and accessibility in its products and mission?
Brittany: Inclusivity is one of the core values and missions of My Beautiful Fluff. We celebrate everybody—not just plus-size individuals—because we believe that beauty comes in all forms. As someone living with a disability and as a parent of a child with Autism, I understand the importance of celebrating the unique qualities that make us different. My Beautiful Fluff strives to create products and a community that uplifts and empowers people, regardless of their size, ability, or background. We aim to reflect this inclusivity in everything we do, ensuring everyone feels seen, valued, and beautiful.
Fancy: How do you see My Beautiful Fluff evolving in the next few years, and what are your future goals for the brand?
Brittany: Over the next few years, I envision My Beautiful Fluff evolving into a full line of inclusive clothing, moving beyond just t-shirts to offer a broader range of apparel that celebrates all bodies. I also see us hosting more in-person events and, by 2026, organizing a body-positive retreat that brings our community together in a meaningful way. Additionally, my coloring books have inspired my son, Joshua, who is on the spectrum, to create a coloring book for children like him. I’m excited to help him bring this project to life, and I look forward to supporting his journey to creating something special for children on the spectrum. In the future, I also hope to pour into other entrepreneurs with disabilities by establishing a grant to support them. I understand the unique challenges of starting a business, and I want to help others navigate those challenges more easily.
