After 15 Seasons of MTV’s sketch comedy series Wild ‘N Out, Host Nick Cannon has officially been terminated by the network’s owner. Cannon created WNO back in 2005, and the improv-styled game show served as a very popular comedic source of entertainment. The comedian was well on his way in preparation for Season 16, which was greenlit for 90 new episodes until recent comments from his podcast surfaced, leading to his release. ViacomCBS, the networks parent company, disproves of bigotry of any kind. They feel the open dialogue, “promoted hateful speech and spread anti-Semitic conspiracy theories”. In response, Cannon said he does “not condone hate speech nor the spread of hateful rhetoric”. The company expresses its reluctance to end the long-running relationship with the comedian star, but due to the failed effort in acknowledging their concern and extending a public apology for what they deem prejudice in nature, they have ended their relationship.Â
Nick Cannon has this to say on his Twitter platform, “Anyone who knows me knows that I have no hate in my heart nor malice intentions. I do not condone hate speech nor the spread of hateful rhetoric. We are living in a time when it is more important than ever to promote unity and understanding. Until then, I hold myself accountable for this moment and take full responsibility because My intentions are only to show that as a beautiful human species, we have way more commonalities than differences, so let’s embrace those as well as each other. We All Family!”Â
This is, among so many other similar events, an unfortunate circumstance for many as we all wish this 20-year run could have concluded with a positive resolve. Our communities, influencers, and everyday citizens alike, continue searching for effective ways to utilize our platforms to implement strategic revolutionary methods of expression to combat the racial divide through both our actions and our voice.Â
This is most definitely not an end-all for the philanthropic mogul. He spearheads other ventures such as The Lupus Foundation of American, Stomp Out Bullying, and Toys for Tots. His also thriving podcast at Nick Cannon Radio is all ways as a community we can continue to support his efforts.
