Nini Amerlise’s extraordinary journey from the runways of Canada to international acclaim is a testament to her unwavering dedication and faith. Recently named the Model of the Decade by the African Fashion Industry Awards (AFIA), Nini attributes her success to her deep-rooted relationship with Christ. Her journey is not just about the accolades but about her impact on the fashion industry and beyond. The key to her consistent excellence, she believes, lies in trusting God’s timing and using her platform to serve others, which has helped her remain grounded and focused on her greater purpose.
From being the first Black model to win a supermodel competition in the Canadian diaspora to founding her faith-based creative agency, NA Management, Nini has set a standard of empowerment, self-love, and integrity. Her entrepreneurial spirit is guided by her belief in the power of faith, which influences every decision she makes, whether it’s in her career or personal life. Recognized in the Marquis’s “Who’s Who in America” and a TV host for Travel Africa Network, Nini continues to use her influence to highlight African culture, mental health, and empowerment for marginalized communities. Through her roles as a model, entrepreneur, and TV host, Nini demonstrates that true success is rooted in faith, purpose, and a commitment to uplifting others.
Fancy: Congratulations on being named the Model of the Decade by the African Fashion Industry Awards! How does it feel to receive such prestigious recognition, and what do you believe has been the key to your consistent excellence in the fashion industry?
Nini: It is such an honor and a privilege to be recognized in this way, especially as we celebrate the progress of Black models and overall diversity in the industry. For me, the key to my consistency has been my unwavering relationship with Christ Jesus. God always makes a way, especially in seasons when everything feels impossible and filled with pressure. I always trust His timing and guidance, allowing Him to lead me in every step of my career, relationships, and decisions, even if it doesn’t make sense to my spectators or supporters. It’s not just about the work itself, but the passion I bring, staying true to who I am, and knowing that excellence isn’t just about the spotlight—it’s about serving others and making an impact first to those close to you, your community, and eventually around the globe. That belief has kept me grounded and focused on the bigger picture.

Fancy: You’ve made history as the first Black model to win a supermodel competition in the Canadian diaspora. Can you share how that victory in Supermodel Canada influenced your career trajectory?
Nini: Winning Supermodel Canada was such a pivotal moment for me, not just as a model but as a woman seeking Jesus passionately and wanting to display the love of Christ no matter where I am. It showed me that no matter the challenges or the barriers, perseverance rooted in faith will always create a path. It opened doors internationally and gave me the platform to advocate for Black excellence in the industry. From that point, I realized that my career wasn’t just about modeling; it’s a part of my purpose and about setting a standard of empowerment and restoration by sharing tools for others, especially those who may feel unseen or unheard.
Fancy: Your journey has taken you from the runways of Canada to international acclaim, with appearances in major publications and TV shows. What has been the most memorable moment in your career so far, and why?
Nini: The most memorable moment was when I first saw my name in Glamour Magazine for Tumbler & Tipsy by Michael Kuluva for Style 360 New York Fashion Week in 2017. I opened and closed the show and wore four looks. Hearing that my favorite model, Naomi Campbell, was on the ground at the show before was incredible. It was shortly after winning Supermodel Canada. I had been dreaming about international recognition for God’s glory as He led me to this industry. However, seeing it realized—along with the profound sense that my journey was finally reflecting God’s grace—was truly transformative. The ‘ugly duckling’ found her wings and became an eagle—fearless and no longer bound by the shame of past bullying, abuse, and rejection. I felt a deep sense of purpose, knowing that every struggle- every setback, was part of this divine plan. It’s not just about recognition; it’s about knowing that I’m inspiring others to pursue their dreams, too.
As I continue this journey, my perspective on navigating the fashion industry has evolved. I’ve learned to embrace modesty and excellence in my style, understanding that how we dress can either honor God or open the door to the enemy and inspire the wrong kind of attention. Dressing with integrity has become a powerful way for me to represent myself while still celebrating the beauty of fashion. I’ve become more discerning with the opportunities I accept, recognizing that not every opportunity, even if it seems promising, is aligned with my values or purpose. In the past, I believed all opportunities were sent from God, but now I understand that some may be distractions sent to mislead me, and it’s vital to be led by discernment and the Holy Spirit.
Now that I operate a faith-based creatives agency—NA Management—it has caused me to be even more intentional and navigate with wisdom. As the first agency of its kind worldwide, I carry the responsibility to lead with integrity and to honor God in every decision, knowing that my work impacts not just my career but the lives of those I serve.

Fancy: As the CEO and Director of NA Management Inc., a faith-based creative agency, what inspired you to venture into entrepreneurship, and how does your faith influence the way you lead your company?
Nini: Entrepreneurship was always in my heart, even when I didn’t know it. I’ve always had a desire to help others reach their full potential, and through my faith, I realized that this was the path God had for me. At NA Management, we strive to lead with integrity, transparency, humility, and compassion, keeping God at the center of every decision. Our goal is to empower creatives by providing them with the tools, guidance, and support to thrive in their careers while staying true to their values. Faith is the foundation of our success, and it’s reflected in every partnership, collaboration, and project.
Fancy: You’ve recently been listed in the Marquis “Who’s Who in America,” which is a significant honor. What does this recognition mean to you, and how do you plan to use this platform to further your impact in the fashion and entertainment industries?
Nini: Being listed in the Marquis’s “Who’s Who” 2025 is humbling and affirming. It reminds me that our work isn’t just for personal gain but is meant to uplift others. This platform allows me to speak on passionate issues, such as mental health, self-esteem, and empowering marginalized voices. I plan to continue using my position to advocate for diversity and faith-driven creativity in fashion and entertainment. It’s a responsibility I don’t take lightly, and I’m committed to using my influence to inspire and make lasting change for generations to come.
Fancy: Travel Africa Network allows you to showcase the beauty of Africa as a TV host. What drew you to this role, and how do you see your work there contributing to the global perception of African culture?
Nini: Africa is a home I discovered in 2019 while searching for identity and understanding of my roots. It was such a profound moment when I landed in Cape Town, South Africa, in 2019 and later visited Lagos, Nigeria, and Accra, Ghana, in 2021. I saw people who looked like me—my nose, my lips, my complexion—getting along with love and unity. I cried with joy and gratitude for what the Lord allowed me to witness in my twenties. There’s so much beauty, talent, and untold stories to share with the world. I was drawn to the role of TV host because I felt it was a natural extension of my mission to celebrate African culture, diversity, and innovation. Through Travel Africa Network, I get to highlight the richness of the continent and its people, showcasing not just the history but also the bright future of Africa. I believe this role is contributing to reshaping global perceptions by providing a platform for African voices to be heard and valued in every corner of the world.
Fancy: You’ve achieved so much despite the challenges you faced growing up, including physical and verbal abuse. What advice would you give to young people facing similar struggles who aspire to follow in your footsteps?
Nini: My advice would be: Hold on to your faith and trust that your struggles don’t define you. They are part of your story but do not determine your worth or future. Take your pain and turn it into purpose—every challenge is an opportunity to rise. Surround yourself with people who see your potential, are trustworthy, understand your love language, and don’t be afraid to seek help when needed. Most importantly, remember that God will never leave you and will always guide you to a place of strength and success.
Fancy: How do you describe your swagher? What makes Nini, Nini?
Nini: My swagher comes from a place of confidence rooted in Christ Jesus. It’s not about arrogance, but about knowing who I am in Christ and walking in that truth daily—Authentic Godfidence. I carry myself with grace, authenticity, and humility, knowing that every step I take is a reflection of God’s love and power. What makes Nini, Nini, is the way I choose to live with purpose, to inspire others, and to always shine the light in everything I do.
Fancy: With so many roles as a model, entrepreneur, actress, and TV host, how do you balance all these responsibilities while maintaining your personal well-being?
Nini: Balancing these roles can be challenging, but it’s all about staying grounded in my faith and taking time to center myself. I make sure to prioritize my spiritual well-being through prayer and meditation, and I lean on my support system, including my family and my team at NA Management. It’s also important to set boundaries, knowing I don’t have to do everything simultaneously. I take it one day at a time, staying connected to my purpose and making sure to carve out moments for self-care, which is vital for maintaining my mental and emotional health.
